Re: Comet Lovejoy From My Scope This Morning 12-12-13!!(Updated processed pics)
Got up about 4:30am this morning and had to rush and make coffee and set up the scope. Also had some problems getting aligned. I think it was too low for my scope when I started and messed up the alignment some how who knows. One of those mornings...lol. Anyways I did get a few pictures before sunrise. The pics. are single exposures. I may try to stack some images later. [link to i1297.photobucket.com] [link to i1297.photobucket.com] Third pic is a reference pic of the comet and of light pollution. Thanks OP :) Great pics!!

C/2011 W3 (Lovejoy) was the suicidal comet that was dead then reappeared.

The current C/2013 R1 Lovejoy is [link to en.wikipedia.org]

"By 1 November 2013 the comet was visible to the naked eye near the Beehive Cluster (M44), about halfway between Jupiter and Regulus. It became more impressive than comet ISON. In binoculars, the comet has the appearance of a green, unresolved globular cluster. C/2013 R1 made its closest approach to Earth on 19 November 2013 at a distance of 0.3967 AU (59,350,000 km; 36,880,000 mi)."

The first darker image was a 30 sec. exposure and the other brighter one was a 60 sec. exposure and both taken at ISO 800.

Nice work Sreglof23!

Been wanting to move my scope outside for some pics also.....too damn cold right now....It would probably take many hours to equalize temperature.
