Looks like a comet or something. Mars?? Quoting: Anonymous Coward 45595998 THAT is the REAL mystery object. It was seen last night, too. Several threads on it. It's NOT a "lens flare." It exists. That's what caught my eye.. WTF is that?? Tried to get a thread going about it: Thread: Mystery object on Skycam |

The tail was millions of miles long and something like 250000 mile wide. A lot of that debris is now hitting the sun but lots of it just got scattered all over the inner solar system. We are probably seeing the leading edge pieces hitting us and the moon. Keep an eye on Venus, you may see some fireworks there now because Isons debris cloud or what ever you call it is now even with Venus. Last Edited by Intruth on 12/13/2013 09:36 PM |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 51124698 Brazil 12/13/2013 09:37 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Tonight i was setting up my telescope to get some footage on the moon...as i was setting up the scope i noticed a cloud line coming through in the distance, so i hurried to get the scope secured on the pads and eyepiece inserted. As i was aligning the scope to the co-ordinates i looked through the eyepiece to align the scope to the moon. Moon was in sight and eyepiece was focused...all ready to film...when i grabbed my camera to film through the eyepiece, i did a quick check with my eye to make sure the moon was still centered in the eyepiece...seconds after i looked though the eyepiece a bright flash (like a camera flash) lit up from THE BACK SIDE of the moon...it was like a huge lightning flash but not in sight..it was on the backside of the moon....i put my camera up to the scope and filmed for about 2 minutes hoping for a repeat, but by that time the flash of light was gone and the cloud line covered the moon. Im not sure what it was, but it was definitely the first time i have ever seen the backside of the moon flash like lightining. Quoting: Luke Skywatcher I have a telescope too... some years ago I have seen exactly this same thing... a strong flash of light comming from the back of the moon... Was it this time of year? No... middle of October... 2008 |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 33009581 United States 12/13/2013 09:44 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | The moon has looked different to me lately. First of all, it is really bright way before sunset, almost too illuminated. This evening at about 6 I look up and see a pink circular haze like a veil over the moon. I looked away for just a few moments and when I looked back up the haze was gone. Our sky was clear, I found it quite odd. Went out to dinner came back and saw this thread. Just thought I would share, btw I am in NC went out to have a look but it's very hazy now. |

Manitoidman User ID: 51414750 United States 12/13/2013 09:47 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | This post grabbed my attention right away. About a 3 days ago I was outside having a smoke and looking at the moon. I bent over to put out my smoke and was looking at Venus when I caught a flash off the moon out of the corner of my eye. It seemed strange to me and when I looked at the moon through my Binocs, it seemed to have a strange pulse of light off the surface. I just figured it was atmospheric disturbance, but now I am wondering! Good catch OP! |

He dreamed that something of the moon was missing, it looked scattered. I had this ominous feeling about it and thought about the dreams people were having about something happening with the moon.. Well, take it or leave it. This is a strange night at GLP for sure. There will come a time when you believe everything ends. This will be the beginning [Louis L'Amour] ~ A r c t u r u s |

Right before I saw this thread I was outside looking at it. There's a kind of a misty haze enveloping it. Blurry. I'm going to see if I can snap some pics. Is China on the moon right now?
