Anyone used Hydrogen Peroxide for gum disease?
I heard mixing part water and part peroxide was good against gum disease.

Anyone have any other ideas?

I think that's probably good.

Interestingly enough, I googled natural treatment for gum disease and came up with this:

1 teaspoon of colloidal silver held in your mouth for 4-6 minutes aday, will cure gingivitis. Swallowing is optional.

Don't do it, hydrogen peroxide will eat at the enamal of your teeth. Bad dental pain. For crying out loud see a dentist.

EDIT Gum problems can also come from brushing your teeth to hard. I use a good quality electric toothbrush and Sensidine toothpaste. (Hate to sound like an advertisment but that toothpaste works.)

I've lost 2 teeth because of ignorance! Betcha I don't lose any more.

This, too, is an important read! "Money by the Mouthful":

[link to mizar5.com]

I am experiencing the worst mouth infection I've ever had. I thought at first the pain I was experiencing was the beginning of TMJ, so treated that. Then discovered the source was from an upper molar, so treated that. The "thing" spread like a grassfire, so went to the dentist. No cavities! Got a prescription for the well-entrenched infection Tuesday. It's quite a battle.

I did a search and found it could be thrush or something very similar to it, caused by candida albacans, a stubborn fungus that needs aggressive treatment, and so I'm giving it hell. It will take at least 2 weeks to get rid of the symptoms and more time to make sure the beasties are gone.

I have ordered the OraMD drops, which should help, too. For now, I am using baking soda solution with a dropper of colloidal silver, using the toothbrush to clean the inside cheek area, along with the roof of my mouth. Then mix up another batch with a little almond oil and hold in my mouth for 5 min. before spitting it out. For pain, I use a dropper of juniper berry extract, which kills all fungus. I am drinking liquids with aloe vera. I am taking a good probiotic, too, and vitamin C.

I am using all of the artillary at hand, including peroxide, to fight this thing because sometimes these things can lead to what "they" call "cancer", which is nothing more in my opinion than a killer fungus run rampant. Progress is being made here. I will post some very interesting websites for you all. It is important that you read them for your health's sake.

This mouth wash is pretty expensive, and thats why I was looking for a cheap alternative.

Funny though the dentist wanted me to use a hard tooth brush.

Re: Anyone used Hydrogen Peroxide for gum disease?
gum disease is a result of not having enough vitamin C in your diet......leads to tooth sensitivity and gum problems.

Take 1000 mg Vitamin C (Ester C), per day and the problem will go away and not recur.

One of the first symptoms of scurvy is problems with the gums and separation of gums from the teeth, leading to infection etc.

Take the Vitamin C, and start eating more fruit.

right - vitamin C treats the "cause" and not the results of deficiency...

the British navy seamen were getting scurvy on their long voyages,,,,so they found that if they sucked a half lime each day, it would prevent it,,,so they began to take a crate of limes with them on their voyages...

that is why the British sailors are called "limeys..."

Enjoy the lemons !

I'm sure FLUORIDE has nothing to do with any of this.

Get J.A.S.O.N. toothpaste. It's the best.

Does peroxide really eat away the enamel on your teeth? I've never heard of that.

Re: Anyone used Hydrogen Peroxide for gum disease?
This is an interesting statement from a vet who treats guinea pigs:

"More often than not these infections of the mouth are fungal rather than bacterial and the most effective treatment which beats anything that has been licensed for use upon animals is Daktarin oral gel. This is formulated to treat thrush conditions in human babies. ......

If you see red, raw patches on the tongue and in other parts of the mouth then they are likely to have got there by becoming infected by fungus or bacteria. If, on the other hand, you see lesions down the sides of the tongue, invariably you will instantly see that the teeth were the root cause of the problem. They will either be leaning inwards at too acute an angle, or they have sharp edge on them and both of these conditions can cause the lesions which are, of course open to infections. ........

As these infections are more often than not, fungal, the oral gel usually clears them up. If it doesn't then the use of the antibiotic Tribissen for about a week is recommended.

Where necessary, of course, corrective dental work must also be carried out.

The dose for the oral gel is a dab in the mouth three times daily for a week, reduced to twice daily for another week. Sometimes it may be necessary to continue for one more week at the dose rate of once a day.

The Tribissen dosage is 0.5 for five to seven days.

(I'd like to know how to get the Daktarin oral gel, and the Tribissen! Sorry, I forgot to get the link.)

Re: Anyone used Hydrogen Peroxide for gum disease?
a good "antibiotic" is grapefruit seed extract (about 20 drops in a 1/4 cup water).....swish around in mouth three times a day.....

kills bacteria and virus....

this will give you a boost on healing while you are taking the vitamin C.

you can get GSE online or maybe on E-bay.......

or at your local health food store....

have been using 3% hydro for a mouth gargle for years and never had any enamel problems

lemons, on the other hand, will cause fast enamel breakdown because of high acidity

also use an water pick that ionizes the water using electricity, and a braun power brush

considering the high cost of dental work, it will be worth it

hydrogen peroxide is really nothing more than water with an extra oxygen molecule. Most deseases, bacteria and viruse cant thrive or exist in an oxygen rich environment.

dont be a fraid of HP...its good for any healing process or infection.

Re: Anyone used Hydrogen Peroxide for gum disease?
Buy Ecodent toothpowder, it reenamels your teeth.

For pain/infection, swish with oil of oregano mixed with olive oil. Also, you can use rock salt and bicarb.

Twice a day swish with the Russian Oil method (google it), using pure, cold pressed, sunflower oil...it will strengthen teeth and gums in six months.

Above all, don't use fluoride or glycerine toothpaste!!!!!!

Glycerine is shiny and stops the teeth from remineralising.

Yahoo have a group to discuss this.

(Sigh) Where are all the holistic dentists....there are 0 where I live in Europe. Meantime, stay away from the driller killers.

I would give clove oil a try, it is one of the best remedies for tooth pain or sore gums. It is a pain reliever and antiseptic. It burns going on, but it will just about knock out any tooth or gum problems you have. Check it out, its really good stuff.
Just be careful not to swallow it.

Warm salt water rinse 3 times a day or peroxide water 3 times a day. It does NOT decay your teeth. Geesh where do these people come up with this stuff? Either one will work.

Did you know coffee will prevent cavities? Straight from the dentists mouth. LOL pun intended!

You want to get rid of gum disease, receeding gums, loose teeth and what not.

Hydrogen peroxide is good.....

But also do the following.

1) Take 4-8 coral calcium tablets a day with 4-8 (1 gm) vitamin C tablets.

4 in morning, 4 at night

2) Also take cod liver oil tablets with vitamin D with (1)

3) Do not use fluoride toothpast ever again (uncle toms has a toothpast that is expensive but no fluoride)

4) Do not get floride treatements from a dentist....in fact avoid the dentist unless you have a serious problem

5) Do not drink floridated water

6) Do not drink sodas except maybe for regular sprite (it has citric acid and not phosphoric acid)

7) Eat some carrots and other veggies raw

There is evidence that shows that hydrogen peroxide in 3% concentration does nothing to injure gums or teeth.

It in fact does kill the specific bacteria that causes cavities in teeth and gum disease.

Re: Anyone used Hydrogen Peroxide for gum disease?
I'm with the poster that said NEVER EVER see a dentist unless you absolutely HAVE to. Salt pressed into an infected tooth will kill all the bacteria and your tooth WILL actually 'recover' to a point. If you have lost a piece of it or something you will need a repair. Just be FIRM that they are not to 'check' any other teeth. The pointy pick they use actually POKES HOLES in your enamal subjecting you to possible FURTHER or NEW cavities and/or infections. Contrary to popular belief enamamel DOES grow back. Don't forget Mad cow disease which hangs on to used dental tools after sterilization.

Most dentists actually tout the idea the gum disease is a permanent condition and cannot be cured. Can you believe that?!?!

Do all the stuff Rhino 8 said and you will be right as rain.
