Lovejoy Kicks Ison's Ass!!!!!!
It's 11 days till Christmas and perihelion for Comet Lovejoy. This is about the same distance Ison was when the best pictures came out and Lovejoy isn't disappointing. [link to spaceweathergallery.com] [link to spaceweathergallery.com] Is raining here so no pictures for me this morning. Maybe Sunday morn.

Yes it is...Lovejoy has been a better Comet for me since before Ison was visible for me. Bigger and brighter.

Lovejoy is bigger and brighter than Ison ever thought about being. The question is now.....will Lovejoy survive perihelion? My Lovejoy pics. Thread: Comet Lovejoy From My Scope This Morning 12-12-13!!(Updated processed pics)

Yes it will. It's nothing like c/2012 S1. Lovejoy's perhelion is 0.8118 AU, between the orbits of Venus and Earth. It won't suffer even a fraction of the heating and tidal forces that ISON did. No worries at all. Great pictures again BTW.

Re: Lovejoy Kicks Ison's Ass!!!!!!
Perihelion is just another day for C/2013 Lovejoy. Much like any day around those couple of weeks, nothing special will happen on that day except it will stop getting closer to the sun and start to move away.

Re: Lovejoy Kicks Ison's Ass!!!!!!
I hope it does release mega amounts of gasses post perihelion. Saw Lovejoy in 10x50 binocs. this morning. Was too cloudy to set up the scope.
