To start, I do not have video or pics, my husband just texted me to tell me he saw a train move through Abilene with what looked like a hundred military vehicles. What's up?

There are military installations in Salem.

One at the airport, one at the national guard base.

Probably more.

There are military vehicles on the roads every now and then as well.

Nothing new.

The people who always comment that it is no big deal remind me of how the Germans used to keep dismissing sign after sign that things were going seriously wrong…

Military trains are not new, I remember seeing them as a kid 30 years ago. No, I do not see this as strange at all. Its an effective way to move equipment from one point to another. I saw a lot of Styker AFVs and M1117s. For what its worth the Department of Defense have a really large fleet of rail cars all you have to do is look for the DODX reporting markings. If they have them, might has well use them.

a lot of police departments have not received their tanks yet. the only way to deliver them is by rail and truck. don't worry the government is your friend and is here to help you.

Salem has a small NG area off Mission Street, but this was not headed there (it couldn't handle that volume of equipment). We have about 6 PAV-hawks on the tarmack at the local airport.

This transport was leaving the Ft. Lewis-McChord base up in Washington and headed somewhere into California. Not sure why, except that maybe it is easier on the equipment to be out of the cold winters.
