Geological process take time. For coal to be formed and be in the state it is, must have taken this period of time. Carbon dating is not the only way to measure time. There are several other ways. For example, a dinosaur found in X depth in the ground. According to this depth, the time it has can be presumed.

This only proves how innacurate the method. A teacher in a university of Mariana, Brazil, got pissed off and started to jump out of his knowledge territory when I started to mention C14 half life "measuring" older periods of time, or other methods like dendrology versus zircon system, etc, etc, etc. Many of such methods depend on too much assumptions and guessing than real Science, depending on uniformitarianism theory that preaches everything in the past must've happened in the same way we see it nowadays as if we, humans, have observed in these few millenia everything that happened in nature. Even the amount of oxygen was different in the past (we know this due to preserved air in bubbles within fossilized amber in trees). MUD and vegetal coal was found BENEATH LAYERS OF ICE making evident we still need to know more about the process involved in our geology. i don't think they carbon date that kind of stuff they just go by the fact it was found in coal and it take however million years for coal to form

and they go by how deep down it was found 200 - 500 feet or more down means long time like 50,000 + years
