Blood in the water! Obama grilled at news conference today.
Ed Henry, Fox News

Q: When Edward Snowden first started leaking information on June 17 you made a statement in California and you claimed to the American people that you had already reformed many of these surveillance programs. “When my team took office, we scrubbed them, we evaluated them thoroughly, we actually expanded some of the oversight.”

You also said we may have to re-balance some, there may be changes. But you concluded with quote “You can complain about big brother, and how this is a potential program run amok. But when you actually look at the details, then I think we have struck the right balance.”

That was only six months ago! Now this judge is saying no. Your own panel is saying no. Even you’re saying no. “We haven’t struck the right balance, perhaps.” That changes have to be made.

My question is:

Were you wrong then because you were not fully read in not just on these programs but other programs outside of the ones you just talked about? Where we were potentially listening in on the German leaders the Brazilian leaders and others, that suggest there were abuses, Number one.
And Number two, if you weren’t fully read in on all these programs, is it another example of what Julie was just getting at, with this question of credibility with the American people? That just like on health care, “If you like you plan you can keep it.” On surveillance, you looked the American people in the eye six months ago and said “We’ve got the right balance” and six months later you’re saying “Maybe not.”

A: blah, blah, blah

******

I thought that was a good question in case you missed this today. It is at 19:20 or so.

Follow up question - Ed Henry, Fox News:

Q: My question is do you have any personal regrets? You’re not addressing the fact of the public statements you made to reassure the public! Your director of national Intelligence, James Clapper, months ago went up, got a question from a Democrat, not a Republican, about what was going on. He denied it. Doesn’t that undermine the public trust?

A: First of all you are conflating me, and, and Mr. Clapper…

Q: He’s your Director of National Security, and he is still on the job!

A: Yes these are tough problems that I am glad to have the privilege of tackling. Your initial question was, uh, whether the statements I made six months ago are ones that I don’t stand by.

And what I am saying is that, the statements I made then are entirely consistent with the statements that I make now. Which is that, We believed that we had scrubbed these programs, and that we had struck the right balance. And that there had not been evidence, and there continues not to be evidence, that the particular program had been abused in how it was used.

****

Ok – how does that square with this information

The thing you'll notice if you follow politics for any length of time that when these criminals finally start getting beat up as you say they just leave office and nothing gets fixed. He will twist in the wind for awhile and either it will go away or he will be impeached. Meanwhile the underlying problems are never reversed. At this point Congress seems to have zero actual power or are unwilling to wield power. It seems they are all bought off or intimidated. Hell of a state we seem to be in.

Well, we had a little movement back in 1976-1977. Specifically with the Church Committee creating the wiretap laws, FISA, and also the other committee doing the re-examination of the JFK assassination. That was something.

But that's my point, they did nothing in the end. Nobody was arrested for killing the Kennedy and falsely accusing and murdering Oswald. The wire tap laws were nice but they went dark and continued the spying. The NSA has been doing a version of what it's doing now for a hundred years. They had a backdoor into the telegraph system, they intercepted all the satellite communications, etc. Nobody ever gets a lifetime in a federal prison for serious felonies. The feds always protect each other and the fixes are always just window dressing.

That 1977-78 House also was the first one ever to do an audit and try to figure out who in the hell actually owns the Federal Reserve. That House Banking Committee report was the last good piece of evidence on who actually owns the Fed. Or at least owned them at that time. It was the first time any official "audit" of the Federal Reserve was attempted, and also the last.

The report was a little confusing, and has to be pieced together with other historical documents to get a "feel" of percentage of ownership of the Fed.

That is what, 35 years ago? It's kind of like archeology.

Isn't that funny, we never know who owns the Federal Reserve really, and what percentages? You have to go digging through the bones of a 1977 House Committee report. Ha ha. Too funny.

Ed Henry's stuff was great, but listen to BO's answer to CBS about NSA at about 35:00 into it. BO tells a dumb joke and then gets hammered on NSA again and gives answers like i can't answer that and it's up to a judge to consider.... lol WTF!!!! Then a lot of blah blah blah now the conversation is open.

One thing I noted from today's WH press conference: Barry acted like there was not a ruling four days ago from a Federal judge saying that the NSA surveillance was unconstitutional.

It is like he is divorced from reality. The judge ordered that the program be stopped pending appeal, FOUR DAYS AGO.

Barry sits in front of the press corp and says, "Well, we have to let a judge look at it. And we will look at it, and then decide for ourselves whether to continue the program."

The judges did look at it!

They ruled against you! Just this week!

And once the courts rule on it, it is not your decision anymore of how "you will proceed."

That was a little chilling, I must say.

No, I believe that the Church Committee had a significant impact on the intelligence community. It did reign them in quite a bit.

I believe that we can also make positive change in the current environment. I believe we are seeing it in front of our own eyes.

I don't think Julian Assange was who he said he was. I think Edward Snowden is exactly who he says he is.

I think Snowden set off a chain reaction that could eventually make quite a difference.

The thing is, it would not take long to change course and make this country great again. It would be hard, but doing a few simple things would make all the difference.

1) End the Fed. 2) Start more state banks that can issue loans, like in North Dakota. 3) No more corporations or corporate officers giving one dollar to a politician, said offense punishable by no less than five years in prison. No exceptions 4) Replace the income tax with an across the board excise tax on foreign made goods.

Boom.

Julie Pace – ABC

Q:: Despite all the data points that you cited in your opening statement, when you look back at this year – very little of the agenda that you outlined in your inaugural address and your State of the Union have been achieved. The healthcare rollout obviously had huge problems, and your ratings from the public are at historic lows, as you know.

When you take this all together, has this been the worst year of your Presidency?

But sir, it’s not just your legislative agenda. When you look at polling, you talk to Americans, they seem to have lost confidence in you, trust in you. Your credibility has taken a hit, obviously the healthcare law was a big part of that. But do you understand that the public has changed in some way, their view of you?

You guys know that Edward Snowden, Glen Greenwald, and The Guardian have only released about 2% of the material they have, right? You know this is just drip, drip, drip of information that could go on for months like Chinese water torture for the Obama.

More came out just today, about spying on the German government and head of the E.U.

Watch this story. This is riveting material.

And now the press is turning on him, hard. See the above news conference.

Much better entertainment than the Duck Dynasty soap opera, IMO.

What did the Obama do to deserve this? Maybe didn't play ball on Iran, where it was all set up and a "go." Or was it Syria where he didn't pull the trigger? We might never know.
