Re: Being Jesus had a human mother why didn't he inherit human imperfection like everyone else?
Is not this the carpenter's son? is not his mother called Mary? and his brethren, James, and Joses, and Simon, and Judas?

And his sisters, are they not all with us? Whence then hath this man all these things?

And they were offended in him. But Jesus said unto them, A prophet is not without honour, save in his own country, and in his own house.

Why, truly, his mother is called Mary, and that was a very common name, and they all knew her, and knew her to be an ordinary person; she was called Mary, not Queen Mary, nor Lady Mary, nor so much as Mistress Mary, but plain Mary; and this is turned to his reproach, as if men had nothing to be valued by but foreign extraction, noble birth, or splendid titles; poor things to measure worth by.

When Jesus therefore saw his mother, and the disciple standing by, whom he loved, he saith unto his mother, Woman, behold thy son!

Then saith he to the disciple, Behold thy mother! And from that hour that disciple took her unto his own home.

For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.

^ Luke 1:28

Biblical source[edit]

The prayer incorporates two passages from Saint Luke's Gospel: "Hail, full of grace, the Lord is with thee,"[1] and "Blessed art thou amongst women and blessed is the fruit of thy womb."[2] In mid-13th-century Western Europe the prayer consisted only of these words with the single addition of the name "Mary" after the word "Hail," as is evident from the commentary of Saint Thomas Aquinas on the prayer.[3]

The first of the two passages from Saint Luke's Gospel is the greeting of the Angel Gabriel to Mary, originally written in Koine Greek. The opening word of greeting, χαῖρε, chaíre, here translated "Hail," literally has the meaning "rejoice" or "be glad." This was the normal greeting in the language in which Saint Luke's Gospel is written and continues to be used in the same sense in Modern Greek. Accordingly, both "Hail" and "Rejoice" are valid English translations of the word ("Hail" reflecting the Latin translation, and "Rejoice" reflecting the original Greek).

The word κεχαριτωμέ&#957;η, (kecharitōménē), here translated as "full of grace," admits of various translations. Grammatically, the word is the feminine present perfect passive voice participle of the verb χαριτόω, charitóō, which means "to show, or bestow with, grace" and, in the passive voice, "to have grace shown, or bestowed upon, one."[4][5]

The text also appears in the account of the annunciation contained in the apocryphal Infancy Gospel of Matthew, in chapter 9.

In Greek tradition[edit]

The Hail Mary prayer of the Eastern Orthodox Church and Eastern Catholic Churches is in the form:
Θεοτόκε Παρθένε, χαῖρε, κεχαριτωμέ&#957;η Μαρία, ὁ Κύριος μετὰ σοῦ. εὐλογημένη σὺ ἐν γυναιξί, καὶ εὐλογημένος ὁ καρπὸς τῆς κοιλίας σου, ὅτι Σωτῆρα ἔτεκες τῶν ψυχῶν ἡμῶν.[6]God-bearing Maid, rejoice, grace-filled Mary, the Lord with thee. Praised thou among women, and praised the fruit of thy womb, because it was the Saviour of our souls that thou barest.
Another English rendering of the same text reads:
Mother of God[7] and Virgin, rejoice, Mary full of grace, the Lord is with thee. Blessed art thou amongst women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, for thou hast given birth to the Saviour of our souls.
To the Biblical texts this adds the opening invocation "Theotokos Virgin," the name "Mary"

He may have been playing the same game as the rest of us, but he was cheating using "God" mode, so of course there was no challenge for him, and he knew the plot before hand, so really the whole exercise was pointless. He was never really one of us.

Also, it was fiction.

It would seem that satan is a dreamer and full of unrealistic expectations where God and man are concerned.

Why would he even try to tempt the Lord? What did he think was going to happen?
Quoting: Anonymous Coward 16479589

I think satan was probably freaked out by something he had never thought possible, and was just doing what he usually does. Of course, The Lord made him look like a cheap suit for all of history at the same time.

And yet, the curse (and the law) was nullified through his death. You see... killing him was a no-no...

and if the principalities of this world had known that, they never would have crucified him.

So the serpent beguiled man - and The Christ beguiled the serpent. and in the process, saved mankind.

its the greatest jailbreak story ever told neighbor.

peace,

Re: Being Jesus had a human mother why didn't he inherit human imperfection like everyone else?
Because Mary was conceived and born without sin. There is some support for this in Luke, when the Angel Gabriel greets her with, 'Hail Mary, full of grace.' But it is also a tradition and dogma of the Catholic church that was developed prior to the Middle Ages - and was confirmed through an apparition of Mary to Saint Bernadette Soubirous at Lourdes, France in 1858. (Lourdes is a Sacred place of healing where Mary directed Saint Bernadette to find a spring that pours forth healing waters. Saint Bernadette's body has also remained incorrupt, which some believe is a sign confirming her affirmation of the dogma of the Immaculate Conception)

And those who have said that Jesus was born with sin are completely wrong. You are correct, OP - Jesus was perfect and without sin - how can he be otherwise when he is God incarnate?

no bro. It is the "seed" which yields fruit after its own kind.

Re: Being Jesus had a human mother why didn't he inherit human imperfection like everyone else?
CONSIDER THIS:

there's 30 years of non-public access "Life o' Jesus" out there, at least partly recorded in the Apocrypha, that pertains to Jesus growing-up and other events in His life than discussed by Bible authors who were primarily concerned with His 3 years of ministry.

Jesus was a kid once, too. Not to mention a teenager. In fact, there's even a story I do remember where Jesus was sitting around one afternoon, smiting a poor lizard and bring it back to life again, purely out of boredom. Also, I don't know how many of yall have ever worked in a woodshop, but an apprentice will bleed in his devotion to that trade, on a regular basis; handtools can be unforgiving. Living as a mortal man, it'd be a safe bet that Jesus occasionally turned the air blue letting fly some righteous anger on thumb hungry hammers and wayward saw teeth. Poor Mary...

I like to think that His 30 years weren't a waste of time and that particular age was was chosen for a reason; it's a pretty decent sample size for a heavenly debrief on the life of man, once he got home again. Perhaps He had two missions on Earth, but only one directly pertained to us.

WTF are you talking about? Jesus' ministry began at the wedding in Cana when Mary gave him the go-ahead to work a miracle.
