Anyone else notice a period of darkness ascending again?

Seems like we go in a multi year period of darkness. By that I mean, when the night just seems darker, everything seems more surreal, dreamlike and for the lack of a better word, magical. I noticed that this week and couldn't put my finger on it, it all seemed very familiar. Then I realized everything sort of felt the same way around maybe 1995/96. Maybe it personal perception and something with the long nights of winter, But it feels very eerie out these days and familiar at the same time.
