read the spec's of the sound card see if it has a mic built in,
or goto control panel see what's a lisning

because the help desk at Creative Labs consists of email contact and I do not feel like waiting 24 to 48 hours to get an answer. However I will write them in the morning. I came here first because there are many good people on this forum that may be able to help me much faster.

yes OP, we need for you to provide more details on your system config...

Find out who actually makes the device then get an exploded parts view of it locate the Mic and remove it..easy peasy.

Generic steps:

Open up Sound Recorder (should be a program that comes with Windows)

Make sure that your recording source is set to Microphone.

Start recording.

Place your face right next to and talk directly into the various pieces of hardware, saying the name of it out loud, for example, "External Sound Card", "Monitor", "Computer", "Keyboard", etc.

Stop recording.

Play back your recording and listen for whichever is the loudest, that's where the mic is.

Well it ain't rocket science ... either it has a built-in mic or it's picking up sound from a mic that's built-in or plugged in to your computer.

If your hubby really worked for the NSA he'd know that; I recommend filing for divorce yesterday!

I think its pretty damn impressive it can understand voice dictation from a distance like that. Good buy ! :)

LOL! Thanks. It does a good job with my new Bose speakers too. I'm pretty impressed he can hear me at this distance to. I don't have to wear a headset when I'm dictating and I don't even have to plug in the desk microphone
