Abu Ghraib Prison/Baghdad Central Prison

"On April 15, 2014 the Iraqi Justice Ministry announced that it had closed the prison amid fear that it could be taken over by Sunni insurgents that control much of Anbar Province. All 2400 inmates were moved to other high-security facilities in around the country. It is not clear if the closure is temporary or permanent"

Re: 'THE END IS HERE': ISIS/ISLAMIC STATE PRIMER
ISIS - January 1-June 11

On 3 January 2014, the ISIL proclaimed an Islamic state in Fallujah.

On 3 January 2014, the Army of the Mujahideen, the Free Syrian Army and the Islamic Front launched an offensive against ISIS-held territory in Aleppo and Idlib provinces. A spokesman for the rebels said that rebels attacked ISIS in up to 80% of all ISIS held villages in Idlib and 65% of those in Aleppo.

By 6 January, Syrian rebels managed to expel ISIS forces from the city of Raqqa, ISIS's largest stronghold and capital of the Raqqa province. Several weeks later ISIS took the city back.

On 8 January, Syrian rebels expelled most ISIS forces from the city of Aleppo, however ISIS reinforcements from the Deir Ezzor province managed to retake several neighborhoods of the city of Raqqa. By mid January ISIS fighters retook the entire city of Raqqa, while rebels expelled ISIS fighters fully from Aleppo city and the villages west of it.

On 4 January 2014, ISIL claimed responsibility for the 2 January car bomb attack that killed four people and wounded dozens in the southern Beirut suburb of Haret Hreik, a Hezbollah's bastion.

On 25 January 2014, ISIL announced the creation of its new Lebanese arm, pledging to fight the Shia militant group Hezbollah and its supporters in Lebanon.

On 29 January, Turkish aircraft near the border fired on an ISIS convoy inside the Aleppo Provence of Syria, killing 11 ISIS fighters and 1 ISIS emir.

On 30 January 2014, ISIL fired on border patrol soldiers in Turkey. In return, the Turkish Army retaliated with Panter howitzers and destroyed the ISIL convoy.

In late January it was confirmed that Syrian rebels had assassinated ISIS's second in command, Haji Bakr, who was al-Qaeda's military council head and a former military officer in Saddam Hussein's army.

By mid February, the Al-Nusra Front joined the battle in support of rebel forces, and expelled ISIS forces from the Deir Ezzor province.

By March, the ISIS forces fully retreated from the Idlib province of Syria after battles against the Syrian rebels.

On 4 March, ISIS retreated from the Aleppo-Turkey border town of Azaz and other nearby villages, choosing instead to consolidate around Raqqa in an anticipation of an escalation of fighting with Al Nusra.

On 20 March 2014, in Nigde city of Turkey, 3 Ethnic Albanian members of ISIL (Benjamin Xu, Çendrim Ramadani, Muhammed Zakiri) opened fire while hijacking a truck which killed one police and one gendarmerie officers and wounded five people. Shortly after their arrest, Polis Ozel Harekat teams launched a series in operations towards ISIL in İstanbul. Police found documents and a flag of ISIL in one place, 2 Azerbaijanis arrested.

On 27 April 2014, Iraqi military helicopters reportedly attacked and destroyed an ISIS convoy of 8 vehicles inside Syria. This may be the first time Iraqi forces have struck outside their country since the Gulf War.

On 5 June 2014, ISIS militants stormed the city of Samarra in Iraq before being ousted from the city by airstrikes from the Iraqi military.

On 6 June 2014, ISIS militants carried out multiple attacks in the city of Mosul in Iraq.

On 7 June 2014, ISIS militants took over the University of Anbar in Ramadi, Iraq and held 1300 students hostage before being ousted by the Iraqi military.

On 9 June 2014, Mosul fell to ISIS control. The militants seized control of government offices, the airport, and police stations.

On 11 June 2014, ISIL seized the Turkish consulate in the Iraqi city of Mosul and kidnapped the head of the diplomatic mission and several staff members. ISIL seized the Iraqi city of Tikrit."

ISIS (Conquest of Mosul)

"After advancing on the city for almost a week, on the night of 9–10 June 2014 militants from the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant took control of most of the Iraqi city of Mosul. An estimated 1,300 armed militants seized the Nineveh Province government offices, army facilities, and Mosul International Airport. Approximately 500,000 residents of Mosul were believed to have fled the city. Prime Minister of Iraq Nouri al-Maliki called for a national state of emergency following the attack. Mosul was reported to be entirely in insurgent hands as of 10 June. On the following day the city of Tikrit also fell to insurgents, who burned government buildings and freed hundreds of inmates from the local prison.

As Iraqi security forces fled south, Kurdish forces filled the vaccum left adding to the preexisting issue of the disputed territories of Northern Iraq, with Kurdish parliamentarian Shoresh Haji stating "I hope that the Kurdish leadership will not miss this golden opportunity to bring Kurdish lands in the disputed territories back under Kurdish control". Kurdish mobalization was seen as the lastest sign of "rising anarchy" in Iraq."

Specifically Enkidu is seduced by "A prostitute, a girl, child born and raised in sin"

And she is actually a big part of God's plans. Apparently.

Oh and there is a huge flood story, which kinda invalidates the biblical one, unless it was the same flood, but... Well, the Epic of Gilgamesh didn't have enough mules to allow the lawyers of Hammurabi to sue the lawyers of Moses I guess.

Hmm, but Eve is also a child, but she is not born in sin, is she?

Abu al-Fadhal al-Abbas Brigade

"Liwa Abu al-Fadl al-Abbas meaning Brigade of Abu al-Fadl al-Abbas, also known as the al-Abbas brigade is a mainly Shia Syrian militant group which operates throughout Syria...The group rose in prominence in reaction to the desecration of various shrines, heritage sites and place of worship by rebels during the Syrian civil war and subsequently collaborated with the Syrian Army. Its role is largely defensive rather than offensive, largely in places of interest in Syria...In May and June 2013...a split had developed between al-Abbas brigade forces over finances and leadership which erupted into a gunbattle. Many non-Syrian members subsequently formed a different brigade. As of 2014, not much is known about their activity. On May 19, 2014, fighters from the Nour al-Din al-Zanki Brigade claimed to have took over the al-Abbas Brigade's regional headquarters in Aleppo."

Zulfiqar Brigade

"On June 5, 2013, the same day Lebanese Hizballah declared victory at the Battle of Qusayr, a page for a new Damascus-based Shia militia group, Liwa’a Zulfiqar (LZ or the Zulfiqar Battalion), was created on Facebook. The group asserts it is, “Assigned to protect religious shines, especially the Saydah Zaynab [shrine]”. This claim is also held by Syria’s other main Shia militia, Liwa’a Abu Fadl al-Abbas (LAFA). However, Liwa’a Zulfiqar is not competing with Liwa’a Abu Fadl al-Abbas. In fact, most of its members and leadership appear to have been drawn from LAFA. Furthermore, Liwa’a Zulfiqar does not hide the fact that it was created out of Liwa’a Abu Fadl al-Abbas. Along with new photographs, the new group has repackaged older LAFA photographs and claimed them as representations of the new group...

Using unnamed sources, Al-Hayat newspaper reported the majority of LZ’s fighters have come from Muqtada al-Sadr’s Liwa’a al-Yum al-Mawud (Promised Day Brigades), Asa’ib Ahl al-Haq, and Kata’ib Hizballah."

Re: 'THE END IS HERE': ISIS/ISLAMIC STATE PRIMER
Summary, June 13

Northern Front (Kurdistan): Kurdish Peshmerga launched attacks on ISIS forces along a wide front from Kirkuk to Tikrit to Jalula. Though announcing they would not fight to free Sunni Iraq, reports suggest they seized Kirkuk and Tikrit with the intent of integrating them into Kurdistan. ISIS has admitted to the execution of 1700 ISF soldiers. UN figures put the northern evacuation at 800,000.

Western Front (Syria Border): With border crossing seized by ISIS on June 12, captured Iraqi armor and weapons began to move into Syria to bolster ISIS efforts against Assad. ISF forces launched a variety of attacks in Anbar and Ninevah, but were utterly crushed by ISIS. Reports suggest that ISF relief forces in these governates have been crushed and that both regions have been abandoned.

Eastern Front (Baghdad North): The biggest news of the day came out of the Eastern Front North. ISIS gains in Samarra and Balad on the 12th were lost as bolstered ISF forces moved north from Taji and Baghdad. Reports suggested that PM Maliki visiting a military base in Samarra. As the day closed, ISIS forces launched a sudden attack in the north, striking Samarra, Balad, and Tarmiya. In Samarra, coordinated bombing and airstrikes raised fears that Maliki had been killed. In Balad, ISIS forces surrounded the town and forced the evacuation of 400 US contractors. In Tarmiya, ISIS forces crushed the defensive line and moved toward the military post at Taji in the early hours of the 14th. If Taji falls, the "Marduk Line" - the defensive perimeter around Baghdad - will be broken and the gates to Baghdad will be open. Reports in the early hours of the 14th suggest that this may have happened. In Baghdad, the Iraqi government shut down access to twitter and facebook, reducing public access to information (since the 12th, the MSM has started to report on Iraq, and without decentralized sources of news from Iraq the central MSM control of news has increased). Reports suggest that 30,000 Baghdadi civilians are armed and ready to fight for the city. ISIS infiltration forces carried out a series of bombings in Sadr City, NE Baghdad.

Eastern Front (Baghdad South): The Eastern Front South was relatively quiet. Reports of movement in the area from the 12th didn't materialize into an invasion. Fighting continued around Abu Ghraib. Reports came in late on the 13th that ISIS was moving in the south again.

External: In Palestine, ISIS connected forces seized three Israeli teenagers. In Iran, Sunni terrorist groups swore allegiance to ISIS. Iranian Ayatollah Ali Al-Sistani called for Shia to rise in defense of Iraqi Shia shrines. Syria's two most prominent Shia brigades, Abu al-Fadhal al-Abbas and Zulfiqar, are entering Iraq to protect Shia shrines. Estimates put ISIS at 6000-10000 (West), 50000 (Israel).

Re: 'THE END IS HERE': ISIS/ISLAMIC STATE PRIMER
Updated with new analysis:

Analysis: ISIS is securing its possession of Mosul, Salahuddin, and Diyala governates. If they cease their mindless slaughter of civilians, they have a chance of winning the conservative Sunni in the west and thereby reducing the central government's prospects for reclaiming lost territory. ISIS' former incarnation, ISI, became vulnerable precisely because its genocidal activities alienated the people and the Sunni tribes. ISIS' success depends upon their capacity to portray themselves as a potential governing force in the Sunni west. Their military campaign depends upon their capacity to portray the Shia east as inherently antagonistic to the Sunni west, i.e. to rekindle Sunni-Shia historical antagonisms. If ISIS can persuade the people and tribes that it is capable of producing a stable, Sunni emirate, it has the potential to carve a lasting state out of Syria and Iraq. If not, even the short-term conquest of Baghdad will not solidify its position. In all likelihood, an ISIS-originated Sunni government will emerge in western Iraq, while the "central" Iraqi government will increasingly swing to the Shi'ite east and the Kurdish government will break away.
