That is a one way of looking at it.

The other way is to realize that the Olympics have always been about uniting different people together and Putin 200% surely knew there would/will be/always has been gay people in Olympics too.

He does not have and should not be given a right to "organize" Olympics and then start to discriminate certain group of people. The gay people should be allowed to show the same amount of expressions of feelings as the straight people "in public" too.

It is against the law to start having sex in public places anyways be you straight or gay, but giving a long hug or a kiss to the same sex should be allowed, be you gay or straight.

I agree with your general idea thou and therefore it would be rude to start over acting it or go there to stretch the limits and try to piss off the local people. Putin's new gay laws are pretty much against the generic consensus of western human rights and therefore some "normal behavior" should be tolerated.

Otherwise Putin should have just given up the Olympics and made his own "straight Olympics" and see how many countries and/or athletes would have taken apart.

I would think it would not be a super hit really, but I wouldn't vote against it either.

The new "gay laws" aren't really hugely supported by the generic population of Russia and lately Putin has taken a lot more dictatorship kind of attitude against his own country men and I don't think it will last for a long time, as they have already started to "give up" again, for example in the cases of the tits showing girls protesting and letting go the Green Peace activists etc..

Anyways, you are very right about the basic idea that you should respect man's home and his "home rules". I just don't think the gay laws in Russia are giving the real picture of what the average rules in Russian homes are at the moment.

Last time I checked, most of the Christian people do not agree with Islam either.. Muslims seem to butcher pretty much everyone with different opinion, be they jews, hindus, buddhist, mormons, catholic or any other religious group either.

So either you are a muslim yourself or your logic just fails there in general.. I would guess the latter?

What comes to your general view of things, you are quite wrong, to be honest. We have mormons and different revival churches preaching around here (at least in Finland?) around the streets and homes all the time and I have NEVER seen, heard or read them being arrested. If you can show one trusted source for that, I will gladly take a look thou, for I personally think ALL religions are under some kind of attack from TPTB.

As long as you are on public property and not causing problems with excess noise or something else, you are pretty much free to do anything you want here in Finland and other Scandinavian countries. I am not 100% sure about the rest of the Western Europe but I have thought that it is about the same?

What comes to the video, I think the only way you could get arrested for that in Finland or scandinavian countries, is if you use those kind of megaphones and PA equipment in public places without a permission from the city authorities. (Like for public gigs/parties/concerts, you need a permission as it can easily distract the people living near the city areas).

As long as you are using a proper language and not some hate filled slurs I think that could not happen in Finland, but who knows.. tomorrow it could be the other way around.

I am strongly against the message but I would definitely go and support those kind of guys against a lawsuit and arrest as for me that is just a usage of your free speech.

However, I would also support an opposite case where someone would preach for the rights of other minorities (like gay people), as long as his behavior is reasonable and he is not causing distress to people around.
