Thanks, was looking to see if anyone else had posted this but of course the title to the thread you linked is misleading. Apparently this was not labeled as a Meteor.

This asteroid was just discovered on the 1st and slammed the Atlantic on the 2nd. It was the size of a small car. ... Ison ?? INCOMING !!!

However had that amount of hit a city rather then the ocean, what a mess.

I am wondering if these people will be a little more alert in the next few days. I read somewhere on this site that we will be traveling through ison's tail. Our have we already been through it?

it just tells you how much we can't see... Thankfully it was a small one. But there are always possibilities a much larger object is only discovered a few hours before impact - you just never know

With our technology and having telescopes over our heads you would think they'd be able to catch this one even earlier.

I guess it's more important for the tptb to read our emails than gaze the stars more often.

I often wonder if they are more hyped about doom like some people are around here. Would be an advantage for them if some kind of catastrophic event ever happened.

It came relatively close to landing or exploded over the Canary Islands. Imagine if that would have caused an underwater landslide, volcanic eruption and then a large earthquake launching a super-tsunami at the east coast into Pennsylvania ... Whew !! Close one eh??
