Parkinson's Disease...is there a holistic cure?

A person with any so called incurable disease or any baffling set of symptoms should consider the possiblity they have a genetic disease called Familial Mediterranean Fever.
Wikipedia: Familial Mediterranean fever (FMF) is a hereditary inflammatory disorder that affects groups of patients originating from around the Mediterranean Sea (hence its name). It is prominently present in the Armenian people (up to 1 in 7 affected), Sephardi Jews (and, to a much lesser extent, Ashkenazi Jews), people from Turkey, the Arab countries and LebanonAttacks are self-limiting, and require analgesia and non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (such as diclofenac).[1]

Since the 1970s, colchicine, a drug otherwise mainly used in gout, has been shown to decrease attack frequency in FMF patients. The exact way in which colchicine suppresses attacks is unclear. While this agent is not without side-effects (such as abdominal pain and muscle pains), it may markedly improve quality of life in patients. The dosage is typically 1-2 mg a day. Development of amyloidosis is delayed with colchicine treatment. Interferon is being studied as a therapeutic modality.["
My notes:
I) It is a disease generally considered very rare in the U.S. because the physicians think the patient presenting himself ("English Irish Dutch," etc.) doesn't meet the ethnic background criteria for FMF which is: Sephardic Jewish, Armenian; a few Italians, etc. Not everyone believes this is true but a lot has been written about people coming here in 1500-1600-s with Sephardic Jewish or Moslem backgrounds and this heritage being lost. The melungeons who may be of sephardic and/or Turkish background mixed with Native American etc. The genetics of the disease are all that matters.
II) This is a disease which encompasses a lot of conditions. That patient often ends up being labelled a hypochondriac, and often had symptoms of fibromyalgia also undiagnosed. The symptoms include digestive system bone and joint respiratory musclature etc. and the combinations of conditions are different in different people. If you do a google you will find. A few of the conditions you will find in an FMF patient and in his family: Asthma, emphesema, pleurisy, excema, rheumatic fever, hepatitis, kidney liver failure intestinal pain. The onset of symptoms is often a stabbing pain off center in the chest or the side of the abdoment. There can be fever although most spiking fevers are over by the person reaches his thirties. In the family history there are a smattering of unexplained cinfant deaths, deaths of children 7-9 young adults and those in fifties. Diseases such as rheumatism and other bone and muscle problems, fibromyalgia pleurisy gout often crop up in families
The Melungeon Health Education and Support Network has a lot of info and links. The only known treatment is colchicine. There is a way to start on it gradually. It is only prescribed for gout and FMF. it is hard to get actually diagnosed with FMF, in the US.
In closing I say do everything you can. Follow physicians orders, but don't close the door on your own investigations...
The posters who recommended cleansing are right. I found in the past that all the clean diet in the world didn't rid me of symptoms but the colchicine is a life saver...I have to order it from australia.
