If snow plows are getting stuck in the street I doubt a police cruiser will have much of a chance of doing any enforcement.

If you want to snowshoe in a subzero blizzard, that should be your prerogative. If Search and Rescue has to come remove your frozen ass, that's their job and what they're paid to do.

OP, you are going overboard here. I grew up and spent the first 38 years of my life in Indiana (last 7 in NC & VA) and this was common. A serious state of emergency during major blizzard conditions happened every few years since childhood. Not Martial Law...trust me, there is a huge difference.

I drove in DeKalb Co today. I work in Genoa and am wondering about travel in the morning. Is there a link I can check to see when this "level 1" crap is lifted?

Saw a SUV try to pass a snow plow, lose control in a snow drift, cross in front of the plow and end up in a ditch. Later, I saw a plow itself in a ditch.

Roads looked clear, problem was isolated patches of black ice and nasty wind with snow drifts. There were small, fast moving rivulets of snow blowing across the blacktop every couple of feet. Wind caught my car on some ice and blew it sideways. Good times.

SHARE THIS PLEASE: As of 4:30 p.m. today LaGrange County has issued a travel advisory for all citizens. As of 5:30 pm, any person that law enforcement has contact with on the road will be ticketed. Violation of travel warning is $100.

Marshall County has also issued a travel advisory for all citizens beginning at 6 p.m. Violations can result in fines up to $500.

I have live longer than that in IL and never have they threatened penalty, just said maybe not such a good idea, that's my problem. Warn all you want run stories on the news, but after that my choice, sorry.

They never said anything about fines or arrests if you violate it. But there trying to get the roads in condition enough that rescue vehicles can move through. Im south of there and in same situation. Everything outside of town is impassable. I have a 4 wheel drive truck, a jeep, a tractor and 4 wheelers and nothing will make it through it. The drifts are topping a good 8 feet in places. People tried to risk it and go into town and are being taken in by strangers because its almost blizzard conditions. And even if they could get through there are vehicles stopped in the middle of the roadways. The plows are just stopped they cant get through.

I don't think they have a right to tell you what you can or cannot do but to go out right now where I am would be foolish bordering on deadly.

I agree, not wise to go out and I am not, but here they have absolutely threatened penalty and based on the post above they are threaten in Indiana also

Lake County Indiana has issued a snow emergency also. If you are caught on the road, you will get a ticket.

Judging on how the city could care less about there being 100+ accidents in Anchorage on the first snow of EVERY year... I'd say, you're right.
