More "Befuddled" Scientists about 'White spots" on Fukushima cows: Mark Willacy Report Australia (Video)
Japanese farmer stays with his cows and tends them.

He refuses to let the Government kill them, instead asks for his herds to be studied in the wake of Fukushima.

Fukushima cowboy Masami Yoshizawa fights government orders to kill contaminated cattle

A Japanese "cowboy" and self-proclaimed leader of the Fukushima nuclear resistance movement is refusing to leave his beloved cattle and the land of his forefathers despite government orders.

Masami Yoshizawa is also resisting government attempts to have his herd slaughtered, saying the beasts should be studied to better understand the health effects of long-term radiation exposure.

Mr Yoshizawa's property is just 14 kilometres from the shattered reactors at the Fukushima nuclear plant and his cattle have already been found to be contaminated with elevated levels of radioactive caesium.

Some of them have even developed white spots.

Scientist have descended on his property, saying it is important his herd is studied.

The ministry of agriculture has begun an investigation, but so far everyone is baffled.

"I showed these spots to many vets who came to my farm. But none of them knows what they are. I think it's the result of radiation," Mr Yoshizawa said.

Mr Yoshizawa's fight to stay on his land and to keep his cattle alive has been the subject of debate in Tokyo, with his case raised in the national parliament.

"I am violating the law. But I won't obey what the government says, because we were betrayed. Our community was destroyed by the nuclear disaster," he said.

"Instead of slaughtering them, these cattle should be used to
study
the long-term effects of radiation. Killing them is destroying evidence.

"I am a cowboy, and cowboys do not abandon their cows. I will stay with them until I die."

To study the heard is to understand the effect on the people. They will come down with something rare and dangerous so the government can put them down for legal reason.

Befuddled - it's the word for scientists.
Couple years back it was Baffled.

Befuddled is better. I was sick of reading Baffled.

We'll have to start coming up with a new adjective soon though.

This man is well known to have severe mental disorders.
He suspect for try hoax on cows.

I challenge you to explain why cows in USA, SWITZERLAND and FRANCE also have white spots?

Why cows 100 years in past had also these white spots?

They have nothing to do with radiation exposure as you are suggesting!

They are more comparable to a dog with mange. This spot are simply the bovine equivalent.

Reminds me of grey hair spots on children. It's probably the radiation, and studies to cure the cows would be helpful.

"There are actually numerous reasons why a child can get grey hair. A vitamin B12 deficiency may be the most likely cause, with other triggers being alopecia areata, abnormal thyroid hormone levels, or vitiligo."

Radiation poisoning isn't contagious. People should be allowed the informed choice. It's sad how many elderly have been displaced from their homes by force, when they would die of old age before radiation cancers.

radiation IS contagious...

not meaning to alarm.. but if you walk into a house with radioactive dust on you, and then it dislodges and others are in the room, it is indeed contagious.....
