SPLIT CALIFORNIA INTO 6 STATES?? voters to decide THIS FALL!

This would be a dream come true for a lot of people. Isolate the wackos in SF and LA and let them tax/regulate those cities out of existence, meanwhile leaving everyone else alone. I don't think it will happen. I think it has to be approved by the FEDs as well.

US Constitution Article IV, Section 3:

New States may be admitted by the Congress into this Union; but no new State shall be formed or erected within the Jurisdiction of any other State; nor any State be formed by the Junction of two or more States, or Parts of States, without the Consent of the Legislatures of the States concerned as well as of the Congress.

So really, only the legislature of California and the Congress need to consent to this. The vote really just gives a mandate to the California lawmakers.

Well, we have the case of West Virginia which could be argued was illegally admitted to the Union since the parent state of Virginia was not a party to it's creation until after the Civil War was over and Virginia was able to assign a share of its war reparations to West Virginia.

I hate everything about California EXCEPT San Diego/Inland Empire. Most people don't realize that SD and the eastern areas are actually very conservative spots with lots of military. It's got the scenery of California but not nearly the amount of silliness. Yeah, the local government is f*cked, but that's pretty much everywhere anyway. I'd be all for it.
