Matthew 19:21-24

Jesus said unto him, if thou will be perfect, go and sell that thou hast, and give to the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven: and come and follow me. But when the young man heard that saying, went away sorrowful for he had Great possessions. Then Jesus said unto his disciples, verily I say onto you, a rich man shall HARDLY enter into the Kingdom of Heaven.

This life is not about gaining material wealth, in fact the Lord speaks just the opposite. So go ahead and keep telling yourself God wants me to have money to help others and my family. Behold the prophets and disciples had nothing and most of you would be calling them all sorts of names like deadbeats, losers, etc. God will take care of those who trust and follow him to the end. Most of you accusers of your poor fellow humans will never give up their earthly possessions. The message Jesus said 2000 years ago still rings true today......give up everything and follow me. At least you cannot stand before God on judgement and give an account you were ignorant. The truth is in the Word, but most people only like focusing on their perceptions and not actually fact in the Word of the Most High God.

Ok, you grab a verse out of the Bible...in this case an instruction to a young man (probably Mark....who did later follow him to the end,...but that's a long, long story)...it was an instruction to a PARTICULAR, SPECIFIC person, because Jesus was God and knew the young man's heart. It was not an instruction for everyone. If you would take the Scriptures as a whole, you would realize that. Many of Jesus' followers were wealthy.....degree of wealth is not the issue. Luke specifically, the person Jesus was talking to, I believe and there are good reasons for that belief...later did "give up" everything (even though his family continued to be rich and followed Jesus) probably was the follower covered only by a sheet, when Jesus was arrested!).... he gave up even the clothes off his back when He finally decided Jesus was Lord!....
Jesus does not call for us to give up everything. He wants us to let go of the importance of the world and make Him our Number One, most important thing in life. If we give up everything, then we cannot take care of ourselves and will be a burden on others....which if you will search the Scriptures, clearly God does not want.

Jesus' instruction to this one specific young man was because He knew that the heart of this young man was not yet His, and the ONE THING that this particular person needed to do to make Jesus His Lord and become His disciple.
He wrote one of the gospels!

NOT ME, NOT ME. He told you the love of money is the root of evil and you say the lesson was for one long gone and forgotten. The admonition is for you and the rest of us.

You've switched verses on us here. this one was not mentioned before. That's a whole different ball game.
The LOVE of money is the root of evil... Agreed. But I doubt that you understand it, since so far, your understanding is nil.. That is a different subject than being responsible and accountable with money! The lesson is not long gone, nor forgotten. Just don't switch horses in the middle of the stream.
