Re: What If US Collapses? Soviet Collapse Lessons Every American Needs To Know
This discusses everything but the 2nd Amendment. The Soviet Union in collapse had nothing like the 2nd Amendment to lean on, and because of this, Dmitri has missed a huge and unique strength that America's general population possesses that no other nation on earth has - especially the Soviet Union when that nation broke up.
American citizens have - in the 2nd Amendment - the unique opportunity and ability to take back from its dissfunctional government the power to govern. Few in Russia had personal weapons when that nation broke up - but thanks to the 2nd Amendment, American civilians today own 90 guns per 100 citizens. (That's about 300 million weapons in the hands of American civilians).

In contrast, the American government has only about 400,000 total combat arms troops (Army, Navy, Marines, Air Force , Reserves of all Services, and the Coast Guard) (the remaining 1,880,000 non-combat arms troops, are cooks, bakers, gate guards truck drivers and helicoptor mechanics -they are not arrayed nor equipped for combat) and many of the combat-ready troops are stationed overseas today. Add to this some 800,000 civilian police nationwide - most of who have been trained and equipped with a personal weapon - and you have a total of 1,200,000 trained-and-armed soldiers and cops. Against that force could be arrayed 300,000,000 armed American civilians! Each American soldier or cop would be up against 299 armed American civilians!

The civilian population of the Soviet Union had zero chance of rising up and taking over a disfunctional government, because they were not armed.

Americans, on the other hand, are part of a different culture and a different dynamic!

Please accept my apologies up front, but I believe your numbers are unduly skewed. Lets see if we can come up with a more realistic number:

There are -
~330 Million American Citizens, of which
~275 Million of whom are native born, of which
~230 Million are English-speaking and culturally "mainstream", of which
~150 Million are able bodied and between 16 and 60 years old, of which
~77 Million are males, and of whom between 10% and 20% are willing to actively fight/resist tyranny in some way.

So we have somewhere between 7.5 and 16 million "rebels" willing to actively defend our liberty and way of life (and another 10-20 million who will support them). Of those, only between 800,000 and 1.2 million will have any military experience, and only about 250,000 have combat experience.

Now, having at least a rough sense of what the numbers are, let us look at what the priorities of a "restoration movement" should likely be -

The 250K combat veterans need to be training their families and neighbors as militia/riflemen, RIGHT NOW. Each combat vet needs to train at least 12 other men how to fight.

The doctors and nurses need to be training the riflemen and their families how to care for the inevitable wounds and injuries of combat and exposure, RIGHT NOW.

The ham radio operators and other techies need to be preparing communications and surveillance nets, and training their families how to use them, RIGHT NOW.

The farmers and grocers need to be building up their supplies and the ability to feed the riflemen and other active participants without government intrusion or detection, RIGHT NOW.

I could go on, but I think you get the point. If you love our nation and the Liberty it provides, regardless of who you are, you should be doing something RIGHT NOW to help restore your country...

Because the government is doing many thousands of things EVERY DAY to create the future they envision.

YOU, and only YOU are responsible for maintaining the balance of power between you and the rest of the semi-sentient beings in this world. You cannot disclaim or delegate that responsibility; it is a function of being a living, breathing "adult" in this world. If you can't manage yourself on those terms, someone else *will* manage you on their terms. Your terms are irrelevant. Buy a rifle; prepare to defend yourself. If you don't, what happens is *your* fault. Period.

Re: What If US Collapses? Soviet Collapse Lessons Every American Needs To Know
I can see the similarities between the US & USSR. But there are a lot of differences. If our government collapses it will likely change very quickly if there is any leadership. A lot of people will deal with nothing for a while. Those who are a burden on the system will need to worry much like what happened when Hitler came to power. The first people Hitler went after were those in asylums and jails.

We do have a severe problem with infrastructure. Nothing was planned to take care of the future because that was someone else's problem. Now it is our problem and the money isn't there to take care of it. We have a very wasteful government that supports a lot of commerce. Stop spending and a lot of people don't work. There has to be an end to it somewhere so be prepared for low paying jobs and high taxes until it balances out. There is no point any more to support corrupt governments to help corporate interests in unstable countries. Energy could be a problem for a while; we will still have it but it will be a lot more expensive. We are much like France before the revolution where the government forgot it's existence depended on the people.

Enjoy what you have because in the future you might not have much.

If they called half of the military home and shut down the postoffice while clearing out Knox, we'd be in the black in a year... not 20 years.
Hell, that's the point of Knox, as a failsafe.
England has it's Royal Treasury, America has Fort Knox.
There's always panic and conspiracy whining from people with Paranoid Personality Disorder.
Take your meds.

Are you seriously daring, on this website of all places, to claim that we'll all be A-Ok because of Fort Knox? If you think there is enough (if any) gold in Fort Knox to cover our debts then you are delusional.

Thank you, Resister. I read this guy's post and thought, "Are you kidding me?? I've known since I was 10 that there isn't any money left in Ft Knox."

It took me two more decades to really peer into the rabbit hole.

I'm a theory-tard.

Re: What If US Collapses? Soviet Collapse Lessons Every American Needs To Know
he claims that urban dwellers of cities will run to the center
of the cities after collapse.

i don't see that happening.

he claims that after the collapse, we do not have resources
to sell.

the truth is that we have large deposits of coal and also can mega produce
wheat and corn. (as two examples)

this russian's perspective of the us is wrong in some ways.

russia has a different climate and culture, i don't see much
similarities to the us.

our collapse will result in a bunch of crying sissies
begging for their blessed gov't to save them.

Re: What If US Collapses? Soviet Collapse Lessons Every American Needs To Know
The main thing to me that made the collapse of the Soviet Union easier for them was the year of their collapse.

They were not in this new area we are in today.

23 years or 1/4 a century has made the entire establishment and way of life like a span of a century.

We would need a modern today's time and era post the 1990's to really have a similarity for comparisons.

Everything is different and that goes for Russia and its former regions as well.

We would not be falling and crawling back up from that fall in a swinging fast changing era, loaded with new opportunity.

We would be falling and crawling with nothing new insight reachable or affordable.

The new advancing ways that are seen ahead are only for those who are remaining completely functional and well funded.
That does not apply to a nation in total bust and liquidation state, or froze and locked out in a stand still internationally.
