I remember that. Made special note, because I spent a lot of time at Quabbin when I lived in MA. Supplies Boston and a large portion of eastern MA.

It was on the local news here in NYC the other day. They really danced around the whole issue of someone breaking into the plant.

At first when there was the breaking news they made you the viewer assume it was just a worker who fell in. No mention of it being a non-worker.

When covering the story they eventually did mention his name and that he lived in the area. That was the extent of what was covered at the time.

I was a city cop when the first gulf war broke out and we had advisories from the feds to take extra measures to protect water facilities. Its been a target for a long time and I am certain plans by terrorists are in place to attack water. Soft targets with high impact capability.

I used to live in a part of the "Heartland" of the US. Driving around on back roads, I would notice large petrochem storage tanks, pipelines, oil and gas line stations TOTALLY unprotected by even a rudimentary fence. Just out in the open next to streams, creeks, and rivers. Remote areas where no one would come across any damage to said equipment for some time. And we are talking thousands of such areas at risk. It would boggle my mind that the companies did not have to secure these sites. The tanks are plastered with biohazard warning labels, so cannot contain safe stuff. The pipelines are just "out there" waiting to be tampered with.

Thankfully, even the kids in that area did not mess with the equipment! (Our rural mailboxes, though, were another matter and were replaced often, sigh).

But I always wondered...........what if some nut job, some day.........

I found this story on many normal news outlets today. USA Today, CBS NY and others. They even called him by name. Muhammad. It was a decommissioned drain line. But he climbed a barbed wire fence and crawled into it. Was he just testing how easy it would be to do something to a water supply? Ether way, I hope they have the cameras rolling now. They are definitely planning something. Something to poison an entire municipality. So, they are getting on the story. Thanks for the heads up.
