My thoughts indeed. Metal isn't for everybody, like all forms of music there are lame bands/styles of the genre (eg hardcore music) and then there's the fans (lots of emo kids, over the top metalhead types that usually have a social complex).

If you're not into the music you'll probably never understand what it's about, but I'll tell you this op, it's not about being cool. The long hair/black t shirt deal is a way of saying 'fuck you' to society's expectations and exploitations. This dates back to the 70's I guess and the Sabbath/Zepplin era, maybe earlier.

Metal is like the ultimate conspiracy theory genre in a way, it teaches you to see through all the bullshit we're fed and commands you to search for a deeper meaning.

Me, I'm a musician, I love exploring new phrases and techniques to play guitar and of course, that everlasting search for a killer guitar tone lml
