Samuel Cavallo, 71, who lives three doors down from the house in question, said that the man who barricaded himself had been arguing with a woman across the street before barricading himself and when police came, he started making the threats. At first, Cavallo said he could hear the man yelling at police. "Then the cops went there again and he was yelling something about his lawyer," who he said advised the man he did not have to let police in, according to Cavallo. This time police had responded with automatic weapons and shotguns, he said. Detective Sgt. James Briggs said the first officer to arrive saw Doug Heidt, 50, outside drinking a beer before going back into his home. - See more at: [link to www.northjersey.com] |
