North Korea looking for "Reconciliation and Unity" in letter to South Korea

(CNN) -- North Korea's National Defense Commission penned a letter to South Korea, saying it is determined "to create an atmosphere of reconciliation and unity," the isolated nation's state news agency reported.
In the letter, the commission also vowed to work to "completely halt hostile military acts, realize the reunion of separated families and relatives, ... and re-energize multi-faceted north-south cooperation and exchanges."

The move came after the South Korean government rejected the North's dialogue offer, with "unacceptable" pre-conditions attached, earlier this month.
