Manhattan man, 84, ticketed for jaywalking (and was beaten) to file $5 million lawsuit against city

I made a thread when this poor man was battered by NY cops. I left out allegedly. There were witnesses.

I hope he gets more than 5 million in punitive damages!

Good! I hope he gets every dime of it. They need to start being sued every time they step over the line. Eventually the cities will get tired of the expense of defending them.

Maybe he has bad hearing - he's old. Maybe he was confused. He's old. Could be many things, none of which warrant a beating by policemen that we employ.

At that age I don't know of anyone who behaves in such a manner as to deserve a beating.

Apparently he chose to learn Spanish instead. Some of his staff may be Spanish speakers, all the rest speak Cantonese. Besides the article says he has limited English. Asians are notorious for understanding English but being unwilling to humiliate themselves with speaking it incorrectly. English is super difficult because it doesn't go by logical rules. Spanish on the other hand is very orderly for the most part, except for the irregular verbs, and most of those are pretty easy to avoid.
