Half the high school graduates today can't even pass the ASVAB, so I'm assuming half that in college kids can't either. The ASVAB is a joke. If you score under like an 80 without studying... Your ignorant, plain and simple. |

Kids should know how algebra affects their daily life. Geometry should be taught in a useful manner so people know how to use it. Yes college should have required refresher courses in algebra, geometry and English. Dirtyboy Think beyond impossible. |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 53495292 This^^ Unfortunately, many kids come out of high school not knowing algebra and geometry. Colleges try to pick up the slack for these undereducated kids, but if they are that unprepared to learn the material in high school, they won't be stellar college students either. Algebra I can see to an extent because some students are slow with regards to brain maturation and the ability to think abstractly. But geometry? Anyone who can't learn geometry is just a fuxxing idiot. What is wrong with today's parents that they are so lax about their kids' educations? I mean, really??? They don't know that their 15-year-old can't add or subtract or make change for a dollar? As parents, you are the ones responsible for making sure your kids know what they are supposed to know before college. They will be living in your basement at 40, unemployed and with a bad attitude, if you don't follow through on your parental duty. Don't bother to blame the schools - the final responsibility is yours. If the kids had been working through the book, attending class, doing homework, and getting additional help as needed, they would know their high school math. But parents today think that Johnny can skip, not do his homework, not study for tests, and sleep through any class he does attend and it's the school's fault he is a moron. Oh, but yes...Johnny is college material. LOL! |

If you earn or pay interest, you are using these things in an algebraic expression Interest = principal times interest rate. If you gamble you at least should know the odds, which are expressed algebraically. If something is 25% off, that is 1/4 off, or sale price = price times discount rate. Fractions are algebraic expressions. Dirtyboy Think beyond impossible. |

Yeah, operating those persona management accounts and shilling for the status-quot must require lots of algebra. Everyone know's youre a persona-managed account. |

Fractions are algebraic expressions. Yeah, as if anyone gives a fuck about that shit. No one cares what their interest rates are. Just what the monthly bill is. Odds are not algebraic, they are statistical, dumb fuck. Also, you really think there are stores left that make you figure out the discount? No. Its on the tag. A+ for effort, but no one |

And the reason why is they wouldn't have learned it by 10th grade, which I believe is the correct time table. It's algebra, trig and then geometry. Starting in 8th? But if you have to teach it in college then why bother with HS, unless you are really just after indoctrination.....hmmmm "During times of universal deceit, telling the truth becomes a revolutionary act."
