Obviously a work of fiction. Aside from the fact that the kid looks waaaay too young to be a professor, the acting was just flat out horrible. If you believe this vid to be real, then you are beyond hope.

Yea coz he was an under grad.. anyone who has the name prof can be called a doctor I guess.

An assistant prof is a doctor.

Actually anyone who has an MD is doc.. my sister is technically a doctor.

What kind of equipment is needed for this? That looked like a big telescope! Won't Nibiru be moving quickly at this point?

The footage of the telescope appeared to be what I've seen there, as well as the control panel. Don't know about the computer room - that area is not open to public viewing. I agree that the "acting" is amateurish, at best. But I find it hard to believe that someone with access to the telescope would be able to pull a hoax like this without losing their job and position. Scientists wanting to use the telescopes at McDonald have to apply as much as 2 years in advance, and they come from all over the world.

There was a thread here last fall, or maybe late summer, about the observatory being closed for a couple of months for something. Maybe maintenance. I'll have to see if I can find it. But the closing was unexpected, if I remember correctly. I'll look for the thread...

Then Kyle Kaplan the texan (there's an actor called Kyle Kaplan I think) is taking us for a ride.

looks like him, but I don't know... look at the nose and hear the difference in the voice. But maybe. Need more info on this. searching to see if there was any news of a Dr. Kaplan missing anywhere...

Not even close! The shape of his mouth, his teeth, all are completely different.

Yeah, not the same guy. I think that he was already verified as a legitimate astronomer, and his access to facilities support that.

I know, but good make up can do wonders. Still not sold on them being the same person though. Still researching to find more about this Dr. Kaplan...

This is a 50/50 for me on whether it is real or fake. I mean, the guy was actually in the observatory and had access to the equipment and everything. He spoke with confidence as if he actually knew what he was talking about in technical terms.

It did look a bit like acting though... so that is why I am digging a bit deeper. If someone has already done the digging please post your findings.
