I've heard that the Pope is due to conduct an important visit to the Mideast on the 24th, if I'm not mistaken. Is there some connection between that and this "supernova" stuff? |

This has often been seen and posted about here in GLP in years before and I have observed it moving myself. There was a thread a few years ago where a whole bunch of people here were running and out of their houses one evening watching it. Fair enough,I shall have a search!i did think atmospheric conditions could make stars appear to move?anyway I'll have a look, cheers! |

This has often been seen and posted about here in GLP in years before and I have observed it moving myself. There was a thread a few years ago where a whole bunch of people here were running and out of their houses one evening watching it. Sigh. Ok guys, there is a sound medical reason for stars appearing to move while you watch them. It is an ocular phenomena caused by your eyes trying to focus on a pinpoint of light in the dark. Your eyes wiggle and drift, not the star(s). Try looking at ANY bright star or planet, like Venus, the next clear night you have available. Then you will see that this will almost always happen when you look long enough, no matter which celestial boy you decide to watch. Venus, due to its brightness, is the most-reported "ufo" in the history of mankind, thanks to this eye anomaly. Moreover, if Betelgeuse were to go supernova this Friday, we would not see the affect for another 3,260 years. (It is, after all, this many light years from Earth.) If you mean that we will see the light/radiation from Betelguese's supernova explosion this Friday, then it already happened 3,260 years ago. The speed of light is pretty constant. |
