I hadn't thought for a moment to post this on this website, but after searching "EverQuest" I was surprised to see that quite a few actually played the game. I suppose it really isn't -that- surprising, but, never-the-less.
So despite that though, why post here? Well, because there is a "conspiracy" surrounding him and the "Vanguard fiasco".
In any event, the game is on Kickstarter. Brad would very much prefer to be free of investors that will inevitably dictate the direction of the game by likely deciding it should be a button smashing spamfest, with a babysitting quest system, entitlement loaded, no risk involved, couldn't care less community, etc. type of game.
Brad and Salim on the other hand have a vision, of bringing back the old MMORPG type of community before WoW wrecked it (I'll blame WoW now just for the sake of conversation -- WoW did bring good qualities to the genre, but they most certainly wrecked it even more than they helped). Blizzard spread awareness and popularity to the masses to MMORPG's, there is no question.. but for all that, this brought with it the entitle minded individuals (not all of them had this mindset from the beginning and most certainly not all of them had this mindset near the end of their WoW careers -- assuming they kept playing beyond WoW's demise of the pre-Appocalypse patch).
So again in an effort to keep away from investors (better yet, just HOW much they would have to be depended upon for the investment thus share in the company -- read: controlling interest) it's up on Kickstarter.
I personally am interested in this game. Before the nerdism comments begin to get thrown around because I enjoy MMO's, having started by playing Meridian 59, Oblivion and eventually to EverQuest --- I do seek out outside adventure (camping, skiing, parachuting, etc.) all the time, but when the lights go out for my children at night, I break out the games, the GLP visits, etc.
