Going home from a visit to the next city over. Was driving on a long rural road. The 169 for those of you in the Prescott, AZ area. You know that is a long, 10 mile stretch of boring road. Well, four vehicles coming in the opposite direction. Two lane highway. I am the lone vehicle in my lane, keeping an eye on the caravan-like bunch heading my way (I had no lights on, stupid me for trusting the judgement of other drivers). Plus I am in a desert-y olive-colored vehicle. The approaching vehicle #1 is the slow poke. #2 and 3 pass. I am safely a couple hundred yards away from the grouping still after vehicle #3 was done passing. I am still okay... THEN a huge Ford truck attempts a passing manuever on 65 mph road. Right at me. I was about a hundred yards, knew they didn't see me and I just said screw it and took my RAV4 to the shoulder, into the gravel. The truck finally took note, but had I not done the maneuver, I would not be here typing this morning, nor my girlfriend. I am happy to be here. My work on this earth is not yet done. I have a good 40 years left, I am hoping. Not going to let a dipshit take that from me. WTF is in people's fucking minds? This is the fourth time in my 30 years of driving that I have encountered a situation where if I had not done avoidance maneuvers, I would be dead or almost killed. People are brain-dead. Zombies? Fluoride? Anyone else? Turn your lights on moran! My problem is people that don't let people pass and people passing that stay the speed limit. When passing hit the fuckin gas and get it over with as fast a possible. I always done that and never got a ticket for speeding while passing |

I just move over and allow the starbuck infused hipster pass me with a cellphone to his ear and screaming. It probably really pisses them off when I'm driving my GT500 at the posted speed limit. |

Idiot drivers. Anyone else? Back in the early 90's, I remember the third day behind the wheel after getting my driver's permit (not even my license yet). I was on a two lane 45mph road, driving my mom and stepdad to church, when all of the sudden I see a guy in the opposing lane about 1000ft in front of me look like he is trying to pass the guy in front of him. He starts slowly veering into my lane, but not trying to pass. After maybe two seconds, I realize something is NOT right and pull off the road. He continues veering over and is now aimed directly at me! I floor it into this guy's front yard to avoid what I'm now realizing is an out-of-control car. My mom is screaming at me "what are you doing?!" because she didn't see the car aimed at me. A half second later he is off into a ditch doing 45 or so, hits a little driveway bridge, and flips his brand new car! This all happened about 50ft from me. My mom is a nurse and so of course helps the guy as best she can. We have to pull him out of his car through the passenger door since it is now lying sideways on the driver's door. The poor guy worked too hard and fell asleep on the way home. His car was only three days old. He ended up being okay and my mom never worried about my driving ability ever again, lol! |
