Quoting: Anonymous Coward 35000992 This should obviously be closed down as a programme. Isn't it ironic? The food stamp program, part of the Department of Agriculture, is pleased to be distributing the greatest amount of food stamps ever. Meanwhile, the Parks Service, also a part of the Department of Agriculture, asks us to "please do not feed the animals" because "the animals may grow dependent and not learn to take care of themselves." |
American Herald User ID: 18631618 United States 02/04/2014 10:19 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | we dont need to debate back and forth regarding whether people really need foodstamps or whether they deserve them or not. I used to say people didn't deserve them and they should get out and work. I no longer say that. The economy especially in rural areas is awful, no good paying jobs at all. Barely any low paying jobs, with only about 25 hours a week. A family can not live on that, Groceries are too high, Rent and mortgages are too high, Electric is too high, Gas is still to high, Durable household goods that are made correctly are way too high. We can debate back and forth about what they should be able to buy on food stamps, and what they shouldnt, but all the while prices will continue to rise, and more and more of you who look down your nose will end up on government assistance as your jobs are shipped to china, or cut all together. Its a snowball headed to hell, and theres no getting off. The idea of racking up thousands of dollars in education debt to get a "good" paying job is a racket. That "good" paying job doesnt pay anymore in most cases than what our fathers made working in a union factory 30 years ago without a GED even. SO dont give me that line of bullshit. America is no longer great, because its people are drunkards, pot heads, pedophiles, and greedy bastards. What are the facts? |

My wife works for Walmart, 25 hours a week is all they will give her. I work in the Mental health field,"another racket", and I make around 12 dollars and hour, 40 hours a week with shitty benefits, but im thankful for those shitty benefits, my wife gets nothing. There is nowhere else to work within 50 miles of our location that isn't fast food, or some pittly little minimum wage job, unless your a doctor or a lawyer. we don't take food stamps or any government assistance. Heres where all of our money goes 600 a month rent- Nice but not fancy townhouse 200 a month- Electric, Varies up and down. 100 a month- Internet, Cable, Home phone, NO CELL PHONES The rest goes toward vehicle upkeep, insurance, clothing, and most of all. GROCERIES. We buy no potatoe chips, or any snack cakes, or soda, or any of that junk foodstamp people generally buy, and our grocery bill is still outrageous. I shop at Aldi because its cheaper, we brew tea on the stove at home, and we eat at home most of the time, and I can tell you there is generally nothing left over for savings. I could move to a cheaper place, but it would be in a bad neighborhood with who knows what for neighbors. Whats an american to do. Thank God for what we have I suppose, and go to bed, get up and start again until the ponzi game comes to an end. The trickle effect will be the stores making less money, because less money will be coming in for groceries, less for goods, less for candy, less for automobile repairs, less for everything resulting in less employees, higher prices, and closing stores. Thats change you can count on. Last Edited by Anglo Elder on 02/04/2014 10:26 PM What are the facts? |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 51248544 India 02/05/2014 11:17 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Senate and Obama set to pass 2014 farm bill. $9 billion in food stamp cuts in this five-year farm bill, another $11 billion in cuts over three years as stimulus funding for the program expires. That is 20 Billion in Cuts to SNAP/Foodstamps as more and more people with no Jobs go on the program. How many pieces of the SNAP Pie can you cut before each person gets a crumb? Government Dependance will lead to mass Starvation. The first $5b of that stimulus money expired in October 2013, the rest will disappear by 2016. |

President Obama is expected to sign the farm bill into law at Michigan State University Friday. A key takeaway from the nearly 1,000-page mega-bill is a measure that could cut about $9 million from food stamps over ten years. The cuts are said to trim an average of $90 a month in benefits from some 850,000 Americans who rely on the program. However, the farm bill’s overall spending totals are exploding. |

samanthasunflower User ID: 37056712 United States 02/05/2014 11:11 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Let's all freak out because the 15 states that were abusing the system by automatically enrolling anyone in food stamps who they were giving $1 in home energy assistance, must now pony up $20 to do the same. Personally, I think this will marginally help people. Because now the states must find a way to give1 $20 a year to people. $20 a year is nothing, but it's better than $1. |

In central Ohio they are cracking down on food stamp fraud. Recipients are selling them on Facebook fior 50 on the dollar. Makes me sick. Worst part is everyone thinks it's owed to them. Nothing is owed. ..it's only earned. |
