Has anyone received their tax refund yet?
I filed really early and it still hasn't been "accepted". It's still "in process". Last year I got it really fast when I filed early. And it's a simple return, nothing they would audit.

They didn't start processing returns until Jan 31st. I e-filed mines and it was accepted on the 1st. It should be accepted within 2-4 days of processing. If you mailed yours in it will probably take a week or so to receive and process

They didn't start processing them til Jan. 31st. So you can expect a refund by the 13th if direct deposit.

IRS staff just got bonuses for their job well done. They are way too busy spending said bonuses to be trifled with your refund.

Really though, there was just a thread a couple days ago about the bonuses.

Same here.

E-filed 01/31.

Shows as return received on where's my refund.

Says there there that we should get our refund within 21 days of the return being received.

It is a very ordinary return with no change form last year - 2 wage slaves with 3 dependents.

Will update when the return moves to the refund approved column on where's my refund

Yeah, they started accepting them early this year starting the 24th but did not start processing any of them until the 31st. Mine is also in the processing stage on where's my refund. I expect to have my refund by the 13th.

You Americans are most clever nation of the world. Everyone knows how Americans are smart people. You made lot of high-tech tools, you even visited space. I think you are going to visit Mars too.

But, look at your tax system. Estimated tax, revenue tax, refunds, filing lot of forms, social security tax, filing forms, 401k, irs bla bla tons of things. Even accountants can't handle simple taxes. That's why tax softwares are making millions.

Why don't you guys find a clean and easy tax system? You spend your time for nothing. You go to jail because of unfilled taxes? Why? There must be a reason behind of this situation. Even 3rd world countries have better tax system than yours.

Btw that's your life. You are ruining your life with stupid forms.

Re: Has anyone received their tax refund yet?
Husband has to do the business taxes, but I'm guess he won't get started anytime soon. Plus, he keeps no books, so it'll be fun just like it has been every year since we opened.

How do you run a business and keep no books?

I did the taxes the last few years by putting the bank statements into QuickBooks and sending the damn thing off to the accountant. I never know if any of it's right. I'm not doing it this year. I'm making him do all twelve months. He could be doing the months in Quickbooks as they pass, but he's too lazy to do any managerial work. Hell, he doesn't even vacuum the store anymore. Too lazy to clean anything.

Re: Has anyone received their tax refund yet?
They only just started receiving last week.

I received formal notification of acceptance a few days ago.

Usually takes a week to ten days to get anything back. State acceptance actually took longer than fed this time.. but oh well.

With the feds I try to make sure I break even or close to it. This year I ended up getting (not here yet) back a whopping $150. State I tend not to mess with so I end up geting something tangible back from them.

Also in recent years I try to file as soon as I can to avoid the bottle-neck that happens in the March/April time frame,

Our "elected" officials will never simplify the tax code thus disbanding the IRS because they (the IRS) would not then be available to destroy said "electorates" enemies. The IRS is the Presidential "weapon of choice" for many decades now.

We got state refund back yesterday and today the federal goes into the bank.

We filed Jan 29th. They took it when it was time to take it.

In 3rd world countries they don't call it a tax, it's just called corruption!! The effect is the same, people get robbed of their earnings!!
