GOOGLE DOODLE 02-07-2014

First let me clarify one important point – I do support gay rights and marriage. While I do not claim to understand the LGBT lifestyle, I do understand that any individual should have the freedom to choose whatever path he or she wishes in life. That is as long as it does not harm another or infringe on their rights in any way. Considering same-sex couples getting married in no way affects me, I feel there is no harm in that particular union.

Additionally, I also feel that individuals do have a right to free speech, provided it is not solely inflammatory. Granted, while I do realize connotations can be misconstrued and true intentions concealed, I feel that anyone with noble intentions should at least be given a chance to be heard.

With this being said, I find the current Google doodle to be very distasteful. In fact, I feel that it is a downright attempt to “stir the pot” and pit one country against another during a time of crisis. The decision on the part of Google to append such an image to their homepage is not only irresponsible, but also dangerous to United States Foreign Relations.

In my humble opinion, it is a desperate attempt to force other nations to kowtow to our sense of morals and values- which is highly dangerous.
