How Much
do the body and mind change over the years
but the heart stays the same?

Why, poor heart
are you always the fool
and derided?

Why
are you the one who is taken for granted?
ignored and opressed
blamed for inconsistancy
an obstinate contradiction
when it is the mind
who is fickle and obstinate,
even boorish and crude?
Dear Heart-
I promise to feed and water you
and let you roam free, to wander far and near
to frequent you favorite haunts,
to indulge your fantasies and tastes.
Will you guide me
and teach me the wisdom of love.
Will you ever come to rule the day, dear heart/
cAN JOY, MIRTH, HAPPINESS AND LOVE
be the hegemon of life and civilization?
