How important is it to choose the God you follow?
How important is it to choose the God you follow?

Most of us inherited whatever God we follow from our parents. IOW, we never chose the Gods we follow regardless of which God that is.

If following and choosing God is important, then should you not judge the various God's and choose the best of what is on offer?

Are you comfortable with letting your most important decision in life to be made by others?

You are what you make it!

Every God is tailored to each person. Whatever that may be even if nothing.

Why try describing this color, it would be impossible.

Ill follow whichever one wont burn me alive forever.

You know..any god that is not an overbearing sadistic worship demanding rules oriented megalomaniac control freak with a torture fetish.

That pretty much strikes em ALL of the list.

Now..if only I could find one that just wants to love me with NO strings or blackmail or threats of torture attached...

God isn't stupid. God knows you. He knows what is in your heart and mind. The words you say out loud don't mean that much to him. If you do your best to live a good life and make steps towards enlightenment, God will see that.

Doesn't matter.

The path you walk will not make you holy. You must make the path holy, regardless of the path you have chosen.

I hear you.

If you have a spiritual itch to scratch, you might look into Gnostic Christianity. That God would be to your liking. He is you. So to speak.

You all crack me up.

Sifting throu all these gods and religions.

You have to have the relationship with almight God - who is a spirit.

Hes not an idol, he isnt a religion. Finding God isnt in all these complicated discussions, numbers et cetera. Those have their place.

God speaks when the words resonate to your core in truth, despite the things you WANT to believe.

Mark 4:30 - 32

"30 Whereunto shall we liken the kingdom of God? Or with what comparison shall we compare it?
31 It is like a grain of mustard seed, which, when it is sown in the earth, is less then all the seeds that be in the earth:
32 But when it is sown, it groweth up, and becometh greater then all herbs, and shooteth out great branches; so that the fowls of the air may lodge under the shadow of it"

I didn't "choose a god"

There is only one who made us all and his spirit speaks truth. It speaks NOT concerning earthly desire or of the flesh. But truth, which penetrate earthly desire, comfort and pleasure.

There are good reasons for such.

The world says "maximize pleasure and minimize pain"........... very dangerous human state right there.

That being the case, I cannot help you find such an impossible construct.

Neither can religions as all they have are absentee miracle working super Gods.

You have to be super silly to believe in those but they were invented the way your ideal is. Fantasy.

I don't chose to follow any god, they are all fakes made up over time by people who wanted to or needed to believe that something awaited those that had just died.

They have become used as a tool of control and suppression, we need to bow down and obey all "Gods" will, without question, without reason.

I chose not to be led by some invisible being that no one has has ever seen.

Christianity is a religion dude... the real God is you inside of you not some outside being

Yes I know that.

I also know a divided house falls apart.

Re: How important is it to choose the God you follow?
I don't chose to follow any god, they are all fakes made up over time by people who wanted to or needed to believe that something awaited those that had just died.

They have become used as a tool of control and suppression, we need to bow down and obey all "Gods" will, without question, without reason.

I chose not to be led by some invisible being that no one has has ever seen.

Good for you.

I am not an atheist but Jesus believed in independent thought and so do I.
