How the Navy avoids norovirus
maybe they should show cruise ships what to do blink

United States Navy has 323,000 active duty service members, many of them housed in close quarters -- yet it is able to avoid major outbreaks of contagious diseases like those seen on commercial cruise ships.

Nearly 700 crew and passengers onboard Royal Caribbean's Explorer of the Seas were sickened by norovirus in January before the ship returned to its port in Bayonne, New Jersey.

In addition, the Caribbean Princess, operated by Princess Cruises, cut a seven-day itinerary short the same week because of a norovirus outbreak that affected 178 passengers and 11 crew members.

In the Navy, such an outbreak would cripple a ship.

Clean. Clean. Clean.

Makes 'ya wonder about the cruise ships. I have always wondered about them. Gotta be pretty nasty.

I have that germaphobe thing going on. Had it for almost 8 years now. A family member came to visit and saw a plunger in my kitchen pantry. This is what I use if the disposal gets stopped up. She started telling me about not a good idea to use that from the bathroom. Ahahahha. She shoulda' known that I bought that new from the store for the kitchen only.

It gets worse with my germ thing, but anyway.

These ships just make me SMH and wonder why in the world, after all of these problems, people still sign up for that.

that's gotta be a bit of a sweeping statement. what makes them different to any other outbreak that occurs in closed quarters like schools or workplaces or hospitals?

All the ships are crewed by third worlders from Mexico and the Philippines and other dirty shitholes to save money. These are people who don't yet understand 19th century standards of sanitation and cleanliness let alone 21st century.

Of course the ships are going to be dirty and unsanitary.
