Anonymous Coward User ID: 54307779 United States 02/13/2014 08:49 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | You NEED to be in the YP for informational purposes. However, you DO NOT need large advertisements, place yourself there for simple name recognition. If your area has an Angie's List,,,,there is a good place to start--albeit, it might take you a bit of time to become recognised as well as Angie's Listing to accept you. Good reviews are worth the trouble of starting out and pursuing this goal in their catalogs. Direct mail (used to be) for us was the best way to go. However, in today's world, it has become very expensive and aggressive. It really depends on who your clientele is. What is yourt target audience? Your demographics? If you are catering to a younger clientele, the internet/web is probably the place you want to be and the place you should start at. Know your stats BEFORE you spend dime. You will also want to use Twitter to your advantage as well as the LINKED site. This is a global world, so make sure you have 24/7 coverage if you own site which is international and are shipping to places all over the map. Many clients (especially Mom and Granny) who have worked all day (and nighttime too) do their shopping at 11PM or 5AM. Be prepared. Another suggestion: Never apologize for price. You set the dollar amount that you feel is fair and balanced and go with it. A customer will pick up immediately if you don't believe in your product and/or you feel the asking price is too high. My final suggestion is to "get your name," LOL. I mean register it through places like GO DADDY. If you haven't done this already, you should. You may find that you can't use the name you really have in mind after all-- or dins that you are able to register everything, including a web page and business help. GO DADDY is a good resource for any young business. I don't mean to come off sounding like a know it all. The above comes from the school of hard knocks and many years making mistakes!<smile> Keep us updated. Hope all goes well for you. You are a very brave soul to open a business in this economy. You must truly believe in your product---and that is half the battle right there! Good luck. Cheers! |

Quoting: TheBiss DO NOT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES USE PAYPAL!! I cannot imagine why anyone would recommend a startup business using them. They can and will destroy you. They are as far as I am concerned a criminal enterprise. |
