There are about one hundred birds, flying up and down the street, criss-crossing, randomly landing on lawns, shrubs and trees, staying for a few seconds, then taking off again. I've never seen this particular behavior before. "When tyrants tremble in their fear, and hear their death knell ringing, When friends rejoice both far and near, how can I keep from singing"

The poor birds don't know what to think of our strange weather this winter. Right now ours are happy as can be since it's over freezing and our snow is melting rapidly. They think spring is coming. Considering it's supposed to get to sixty by the weekend, maybe we are headed towards spring. Wishful thinking, I know. Kansas here. |

And at the same time I saw a huge white snow owl flying across the ice. This was middle of the afternoon.
I am a tugboat captain and I was cutting across frozen Lake Michigan from south chicago to milwaukee. I also saw about ten other dead ducks. But the one that just fell sort of disturbed me. I've been doing this for 15 years and have never seen anything like it. |
