Does anyone think that this Mural (in Denver Airport) has
clues for a Yellowstone eruption?

DenverMuralOMG

I have been trying to interpret this mural for a couple
of months--first thought it might be Ison or a meteor hit...
but the Buffalo in the picture seems to point more toward
Yellowstone.
Time-line seems like this year especially since the funeral
of Nelson Mandella appears to be right smack in the middle
of the painting (Mandella had a leopard-drapped casket at
the funeral--a mark of an African Prince--also in the
painting at center bottom.)

Like I said about the sinkholes, they don't make the news. Watch your FB feed. The parking lot one here didn't even make the news and it was huge and caused a water main to break. Normally people gripe on FB about them because their water gets shut off or gas or they have to detour, etc. Just an uptick I noticed.

Since late summer 2013, the Yellowstone GPS network has tracked a small ground deformation episode in north-central Yellowstone National Park.
During the past five months, the NRWY GPS station has recorded about 3.5 cm (1.4 in) of uplift and about 1 cm (0.4 in) of southeastward ground movement, relative to a stable reference station north of the Park.
Measurements from other GPS stations in northern Yellowstone show smaller displacements, forming a circular pattern of deformation consistent with a minor pressurization, about 6 to 10 km (4-6 miles) deep, near Norris Junction.

[link to volcanoes.usgs.gov]

though this is interesting what it means imo is that if it is ever going to blow we should see a big ground deformation appear and grow at least some days before (one or several - remember the one at the recent volcano in Java?)

Helium-4 seems to be the predictor of activity:

[link to www.livescience.com]

The team's analyses show that, as the volcano began to stir, the crust fractured and helium, mostly from the mantle, flowed to the surface. As the actual eruption began, gas flow at the surface increased dramatically, and gas pressure beneath the island dropped. Then as seismic activity at El Hierro picked up again, the crust fractured and deformed extensively, and helium-4 became a larger component of the total helium released on the island.

Looking at the past ratios of helium at Yellowstone 1978:

Helium isotope ratios (³He/4He) in Lassen Park and Yellowstone Park volcanic gases show large ³He enrichments relative to atmospheric and crustal helium indicating the presence of a dominant mantle-helium component.

[link to onlinelibrary.wiley.com]

Study released today on Yellowstone helium:

" [link to www.nature.com]

"However, much of the helium emitted from this region is actually radiogenic helium-4 produced within the crust by α-decay of uranium and thorium. Here we show, by combining gas emission rates with chemistry and isotopic analyses, that crustal helium-4 emission rates from Yellowstone exceed (by orders of magnitude) any conceivable rate of generation within the crust."

Back to LATimes:

But in areas where there is little groundwater or movement in Earth's crust, helium-4 can remain trapped and build up over time. This is especially true at Yellowstone, where inactive rocks, or what geologists call "craton," have been estimated to be 2.5 billion years old. (The park is located primarily in Wyoming.)

Things began to change roughly 2 million years ago, however, when hot magma intruded on the crustal system from below and triggered several enormous volcanic eruptions, the most recent about 640,000 years ago.

Teutonic Activity Feb. @ Yellowstone:

One of the largest earthquakes in the US this week, at just M3.6, occurred close to Yellowstone crater, on 11 February. The area, which overlies a hotspot (where hot magma from the mantle rises to the surface) is characterised by frequent earth tremors, which often occur in clusters (or ‘swarms’) such as those of 2004, 2009 and 2010.

Tectonically speaking, Yellowstone lies to the east of most of the major earthquake zones which characterise western North America and the earthquake swarms around Yellowstone are related to movements of the magma which lies beneath.

hmmmmm
as i predicted
recent quakes in areas around and in yellowstone show signs of magma movements deep in the earth.
this is typical in volcanos soon to have an eruption
however yellowstone is not a regular volcano
id expect some very clear signs in gas emissions (evidence above) and cracks, sinkholes and geothermal activity (geyzers, hot pools) to show unprecidented activity

these events however will directly precide harmonic tremors meaning we could be days or even hours from an eruption

we may be past any kind of evacuation threshold

There is this about a geyser erupting for the first time in 2 years:

Yellowstone Geyser Erupts For First Time in Years
January 30, 2014 02:59pm ET

Yellowstone National Park's Giantess Geyser is erupting for the first time in two-and-a-half years, park rangers said today.

The usually quiet geyser is shooting off bursts of water that reach 50 feet (15 meters) into the air, said Annie Carlson, the supervisory park ranger at the Old Faithful Visitor Education Center. Giantess Geyser is nearby the more famous Old Faithful, but it is far less regular.

"We don't know when it will stop, and we don't know when it will go again in the future," Carlson told Live Science's Our Amazing Planet

[link to www.livescience.com]

----------------------------------------------------

Also, anyone remember the following, it is from my Yellowstone thread a while back:

NASA's Landsat finds problems under Yellowstone's Old Faithful

NASA's Landsat satellites have been tracking Yellowstone's underground geothermal activity, a deep heat that is stored 4,000 miles into the earth's core. But there are areas where these energy levels are becoming erratic. Old Faithful could be in trouble.

The Landsat Program is jointly managed by NASA and the U.S. Geological Survey, beginning its services of remote sensing in 1972. It became part of the Yellowstone National Park's new monitoring plan in 2005. In addition to remote sensing, Landsat also uses airborne reconnaissance in order to "observe geothermal changes across all of Yellowstone in a systematic and scientific manner." (NASA)

Up until recently, the heat coming from Yellowstone's underground magma chamber has always been the fuel for over 10,000 of the volcano's features: Old faithful, hot springs, geysers, mud spots, terraces and mud pots. But NASA is reporting that the Landsat imagery has picked up some unexpected developments outside the park's borders, also picked up by energy companies beyond the park's borders.
