EU sanctions against Russia over its conduct during the conflict in Ukraine may be scrapped entirely, says European Council President Herman Van Rompuy. The reason is that the Russian counter-sanctions has become very expensive for the EU member countries.
Most likely, however, that sanctions are retained according to several EU diplomats that have spoken to Reuters.

It's funny to me that EU can't handle the Russian counter-sanctions. The moral of the story is that EUs economy is very fragile and it can't handle sanctions, but they can't drop the sanctions against Russia because USA would go apeshit if they did.

Nuclear war bunkers were expressly designed to defeat that kind of thing, with multiple redundant systems. Hell, if you can survive radioactive air you can survive tyre smoke for a day or two.

But I still don't see how they could defeat blocking their drains with rubbish and diverting rubbish filled storm sewers (and sanitary sewers).

I don't know wtf there is to talk. Does the EU want to pay norwegian gas prices of 800 USD or russian of 360-500 USD. Either way Russia won't lower the prices bc they already are the lowest on the market and the EU has proven to be an unreliable partner...

Only if it is priced in Rubles.
Right now, as far as I know, only Belarus have a (gas) contract of any size priced in Russian Rubles.
Most others chose Euros. I think Ukraine is still contracted in US Dollars (at $480 or $485), no new contract has been agreed and Ukraine seems to want to deal in US Dollars unlike EU countries.

And "Neft" (loosely) means oil. GazpromNeft is basically the oil company, not the gas company.

Yes, since they want Russian exports (not just hydrocarbons) to preferably be priced in Rubles - then -
if the Ruble is to be devalued they want decline in value to happen sooner rather than later.
That is why the Russian Central bank said it will no longer support the Ruble but will allow it to find its own level.

I do know that Russia wants to promote export of manufactured goods. That is why, for example, they made a deal with Iran to swap 500k barrels of crude per day for Russian manufactured goods. This 500k barrels is exempt from oil export limits against Iran because it is for Russian domestic consumption (after refining), not for re-export. Of course it frees up for export Russian oil that would otherwise be used domestically. :-)
Another example, they manufacture huge volumes of government-made rifle ammo they want to export to BRICS countries since the West no longer wishes to buy.

A few weeks ago (as an AC) I told you that the EU is sanctioning itself to death, if they continue this. I think it's not only the counter-sanctions. Some spokespersons of a few big companies had warned about it long before the counter-sanctions, that our sanctions on Russia would affect the economy in the EU. There was a chart on ZH that showed that only the economy in the EU was obviously sinking. Russia was slightly climbing and USA went heavily upwarts.

Therefore "USA would go apeshit if they did." The EU gets Nulandized. If you have such friends you need no enemies.

There are also corridors wide enough to drive armour through underground. Almost impregnable.

that DEPEND on imports... they become VERY expensive.
So Russian IMPORTERS are definitely NOT happy w/ a weak ruble.

Is Russia a net exporter or importer? I think exporter. Then they will like it.

It's ironic really.
