Crimea was the first step for Russia to reclaim ALL former USSR territory. Ukraine was or is to be the second step. If Ukraine is taken I would guess Bulgaria could be next as it has a very small population and already many Russians buying up cheap properties there. Ukraine did not join NATO because it felt no need. Big mistake.
Some people on here need to do a bit of history reading or catch up on facts.
The ex Prime minister, Yulia, may have been corrupt but not half as corrupt as the Yanukovych gang.They brought the country to bankruptcy and depleted the army. Not surprising when the main general was a Russian. The government has tried to control the terrorists with the least amount of aggression but it has not worked. Even the police are not doing what they should to control the bandits. All this could be solved peacfully but not while a few men want to seize Ukraine territory and hand it over to Russia. It should be remembered that many Ukrainians were trapped in Russia when the borders were drawn up.

I never even thought of that. I knew about the BRICS plans but never thought about that aspect of it.

This is all about destabalizing Russia, both economically and militarily.

It is NATO's involvement, at least potentially, that is driving Russian involvement. Take NATO completely out of the picture and insure Ukraine neutrality in the Constitution with specific and ironclad guarantees and people would be shocked at how quickly all of these other issues would disappear. NATO has even jumped into the diplomacy and has scheduled exercises on Ukraine soil. It doesn't matter if NATO directly intervenes if Russia invades. They will be in like gangbusters in any part of Ukraine that Russia doesn't occupy and they will foment insurrection in the rest, just as they say Russia is doing now. NATO is the whole key to this crisis and the primary cause IMO.

That or they're showing support for the Donbass fighters, I believe they wear the same type of ribbon on their sleeves. I've never seen these isignia on Russian vehicles before.

This is why Putin doesn't trust the US. I think now we have Russia pushing back against a western led offensive. This is much bigger than a Ukrainian civil war.
