But what I actually meant was that after 1 year (1940-1941)of Soviet occupation arrival of German forces was indeed seen as blessing by estonians.
Estimated 2500 were killed by communist regime during this first year with 10 000 deported 14. june 1941 to siberia.
You can imagine what sentiments were 3 weeks later when German forces arrived. Especially considering 37 000 men forcibly recruited into Soviet Army in beginning of war (of those by the way close to 10 000 died in "construction battalions" during winter '41-'42)

Were there Nazi concentration camps located in Estonia? Of course. As were in every other country occupied by Nazis in beginning of war. Were there estonians collaborating or serving in camps - of course. As were almost all other nationalities including russians.
There were ethnic estonians killed as well in these camps - about 7000 (20% of total casualties).

All this talk about NATO intervention / retaliation / WHATEVER is weird to me. Ever since this fratricidal violence broke out we've heard not a peep out of Kerry or Obama and scant reporting from the MSM.

It seems to me that any "peacekeeping" operations by the west in Ukraine would need to be done by the United Nations but, again, not a peep. So the MSM and the West are either happy with their results of turning Ukraine into the early days of Syrian mess or they're just waiting for Russia to make it's move so they can point fingers. Make no bones about it, Russian intervention or occupation of Ukraine would be as bad as IMF / EU austerity. Ukraine is the ball field now since we didn't get our way in Syria. The people are going to suffer.

There's also a total void of western journalists embedded with the Ukraine forces. This tells me that we don't want truth, we want a propaganda war and to completely ignore the crimes the Pro West side does. Yes, there's crimes on both sides, but none of this would have happened if Nuland wasn't passing out cookies and cupcakes in February in Maidan Square.

Because of the complete lack of media coverage we're not going to know what's really going on when it gets REAL nasty.
