Two game sims come to mind, both of which are favorites of mine (I know it's not a game but in a way it is)

1: ENDWAR by Ubisoft and Tom Clancy ...Do not forget Tom C. predicted Georgia > South Ossetia events of 2008 to a "T", eerily true. ...In ENDWAR, the cry of "peas and security" has come, the Earth is free of nukes, HOORAY ...Then we can have straight up endwar with rods-of-gods and of course the Russians just send in a giant nuke, KA-BOOM-SKI, hehe, fun game let's talk about it.

2: The fine game Axis and Allies which is now completely awesome in IP form as something called "triple A" (for the three a's in the original game.. But now it's not just WW2, you can use the triple A engine to game any conflict. Specifically there is a map called Conflict 2012 or something but what's key is this: It allocates units (war units) based on GDP of the world at that time... This means that China bloc and Russia bloc start with what units they would have in real life. ...Also I must mention this: The triple A engine allows you to run the AI, 4-way war against itself. I am saying that you can plug in this GDP map into triple-A and watch the (crude but simple) AI, duke it out, in economic (again low-scale, no major nukeing of civilians or cities) warfare. So, I am winding up to this: I (as with the film War Games) enjoy sitting and watch the AI PLAY WW3, and when the units are allocated along the lines of GDP, in accordance with the board game Axis and Allies, well, It is always the same outcome: Germany and China slug it out economically while Russia tries to find ground in middle Europe, but basically China comes easily into Turkey, mid east, etc. I have though of you-tubing these gameplays I watch, based on the most realistic models available, and it's scary but not altogether frightening because knowledge is power.

3: Oh and then there is "DEFCON: Everybody Dies" which is also a favorite of mine, tho less so, because tactically, you have lost when you approach DEFCON, in these terms, this 1980's style game shows a very key truth: Depleted Uranium, tho it lasts 1 million years, is nothing next to skies full of demonic atomic robotic emissaries of some horrific cult that runs Earth like a collection of witches.

Russia has so much gas they dont know what to do with it and they still buy gas at a cheap rate from other countries. They have little else to offer. There is always solar energy and that may be what worries them.
