Apparently he and the other Georgians really jarred Poroshenko's nerves when they were in Kiev - and the White House too (McCain excepted) because he was pushing to back Putin into a corner with no opportunity for compromise - i.e. pushing us ALL into a war.

Neither Poroshenko nor the Americans want a war, but Saakashvili and his gang were doing all they could to thwart any chance of a compromise.

The United States is being hypocritical in its response to the armed clashes between Kiev and pro-Russian groups in eastern Ukraine, former Congressman Ron Paul wrote in a new column.

In the column, published by the Ron Paul Institute for Peace and Prosperity, the former libertarian lawmaker questioned the American role in the conflict unfolding in Ukraine, criticizing the US for blaming recent outbreaks of violence on Russian sympathizers rather than the Ukrainian military.

The column comes just a few days after the Ukrainian military killed about 20 people in Mariupol, where the country's Interior Ministry claimed that pro-Russia militants attempted to seize the local police building. Residents in the area, meanwhile, stated that local police did not want to take orders from Kiev, and that sparked a response by the military that ended up engulfing outsiders who arrived in support of the officers.

Ukraine’s Grad Rocket Launchers Shell Russia’s Rostov Region – Border Security Service

ROSTOV-ON-DON, August 2 (RIA Novosti) – Nine shells have been fired from Ukraine’s Grad multiple rocket launchers, according to preliminary reports, and exploded on the territory of Tarasovsky District in Russia’s Rostov Region, Vasily Malev, a representative of the Russian Security Service in the Rostov Region told RIA Novosti Saturday.

“Nine craters were detected in the area of the Mityakinskaya village [Rostov Region]. The fragments of shells presumably indicate that they were fired from Grad multiple rocket launchers,” Malev said.

MOSCOW, August 2 (RIA Novosti) – A group of 70 international experts and eight monitors arrived on Saturday at the Malaysian passenger plane crash site in eastern Ukraine, the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) has said.

“SMM monitors (8) have arrived at #MH17 site w/70 experts + detector dogs. Long day ahead intensive work focused on recovery victim remains,” the organization said in its Twitter microblog.
