A MiG 29 can certainly fly high enough and also has 30mm cannon rounds, and Ukraine have a number of them... 45 MiG-29s aircraft were captured by the Russian Armed Forces on Belbek Air Base during the 2014 Crimean crisis, 3 MiG-29S and one MiG-29UB. 37 MiG-29s were handed back to Ukraine by late May 2014. Five MiG-29MU1 Ukrainian upgrade (1 in 2011). Additional two were renovated in 2012. An Su-25 cannot engage an aircraft flying at 33,000 feet with cannons. It could pull its nose up briefly and try to do so, but it would be 4 km away or greater. An Su-25 at 7,000 meters and a 45 degrees nose up firing at the airliner at 10,000 meters altitude, the airliner would be 4.24 kilometers away from the Su25 at the closest. Yes 4,240 meters. The gun's maximum effective range against aerial targets is 200 to 800 m and against surface or ground targets is 1,200 to 1,800 m. As far as missiles, the missiles that Ukraine's Su-25 carry(K-13 and R-60) are infrared heat-seeking. They aim for the engines, not the fuselage. This was clearly an explosion and shrapnel impact near the nose of the aircraft that then rapidly disintegrated the front of the aircraft, which came completely off of the rest of the plane forward of the wings a few meters and then into many pieces in the air. This is consistent with a radar guided missile coming from the front of the aircraft and exploding in front of it. Radar guided missiles simply go for the largest area of radar return. Also note that Snizhne was in front of the aircraft. Besides the issue of that well-documented Buk SAM in Torez and Snizhne that day, and then in Luhansk minus one missile just is not going to go away despite the Russian government and shills wishing it would.
