Quoting: Dr. Ben Schillen SNIP WASHINGTON - President Obama's call to raise the federal minimum wage could help lift 900,000 workers out of poverty, but at a cost of as many as 500,000 jobs, according to an analysis released today by the non-partisan Congressional Budget Office. [link to www.freep.com] :leanforward: White House has a response to the 500,000 who will lose their jobs. White House: Since the population of the USA is 320 Million, that 500,000 is just a small percentage. Translation: Fuck the 500,000. We do not give a shit. Have a nice day! |

If an employer can't afford to pay that minimum wage they were exploiting their workers and should have been bankrupt a long time ago. They have been doing EXCEPTIONALLY well lately. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 35378161 Don't cry for your wealthy Master kid, he'll be O.K.. Why should ''millionaires and billionaires'' (note the use of quotes) have to pay more so your lazy ass can fuck off? My wife and I worked hard to get we are. We worked hard, and continue to work hard, so our daughter can have a better life than we did. The liberal 'millionaire' bullshit needs to stop too. Making just over $250k/year does not make one filthy rich and fair game to tax to death. |

I came across a great opportunity in a career I was good at. Then I choose to take care of my ill mother for 13 years, that was hard work and saved taxpayers a lot in taxes . My opportunity was cut short, I made very good money bc when opportunity came along so did other responsibility. I worked hard at what ever I did all my life. Many of us work hard I did not end up with much but more than some but you won't hear we blah blah blah, I worked so hard, I worked so hard,I worked so hard.... shove it you people who were blessed with the opportunity to work hard, that is a blessing not a curse. oh no... oh no... I had to work hard, you sniveling baby, you were blessed, pass it on. |

Who decides what a fair minimum wage is, and why are they qualified to make that decision? Unions were supposed to decide but because of right to work for less laws being passed in all the red states (kinda like old times) it looks like it's Obama's decision now. |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 45485322 United States 02/18/2014 10:05 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I don't believe that at all. It's just employers bitching because they don't want to pay a living wage. Nope, they would rather pay squat wages and then have the government pick up the slack through SNAP programs and income tax credits. I don't respect employers who want to pull that stunt because it's not the taxpayer's job to pay for your employee. |

[link to www.freep.com] :leanforward: Well Dr. Ben, that is more or less par for the course. Many of things they are doing there in the "District of Corruption" are hurting the average worker not helping them. What many people are unaware of is; there is a gradual movement on the part of businesses to automate menial tasks using robotics. Why pay someone to make a hamburger when a robot can do the job. I predict in the near future we will see fast food stores with virtually no employees. We are headed in that direction right now. "One person with courage is a majority." - Thomas Jefferson "You’ve heard that we are what we eat. But we also are what we think". “Liberals claim to want to give a hearing to other views, but then are shocked and offended to discover that there are other views." -William F. Buckley Jr. |

Making just over $250k/year does not make one filthy rich and fair game to tax to death. We worked hard to get where we are, too. But that is independent of the millions of people who are also working hard and making minimum wage (and sometimes below). It certainly doesn't mean that my hard work should be rewarded while theirs isn't. I don't think the $250K sob story is going to fly, either. Anyone making that much money annually should be taxed heartily. If you can't make it on that salary - even with higher taxes - you are too dumb to live (and you talk about the poor with such contempt). The millionaires and billionaires have bought politicians and fixed the tax system to their wishes for so many years. You really don't see it, do you? Why should a rich man make millions on his stock appreciation and have to pay just a few percent taxes on that while a soldier or secretary has to pay a much higher rate on their salaries - and they have nothing left over to buy stocks? The system is rigged for the wealthy. The fact of the matter is that there are many more low-paying jobs than high-paying jobs and somebody (lots of somebodies) are going to get screwed while the few bask in their selfishness and wealth. Evidence is very clear that people tend to stay within their social class. Just because my kids were born to upper middle class parents and will themselves be upper middle class doesn't mean they worked any harder than some poor kid who had to get a job at the grocery store and forgo college in order to help his mom pay the family bills. |
