Hallelujah! Illinois Schools Bringing God Back; To Avoid Working an Extra Day
What a scam.

"“We intend to apply for act of God days, but when and how and how many days are still to be determined,” Unit 5 Superintendent Gary Niehaus said. “We hope there is only one.”

Districts are required by the state to build in five emergency days to ensure students attend 176 days each school year. If they use up those days, they can ask the regional and state school superintendents to approve act of God exemptions."

"The Act of God days must be allowed by both the regional and state superintendents, but school officials do not see any problem getting the days approved."

"Edwardsville students will probably not have to make up any more snow days. Illinois law allows districts to apply for an “act of God” exemption that prevents districts from having to make up more than five emergency days."

"If they need to close school again, they have the option to apply to the State of Illinois for an "Act of God" exemption day. That means Illinois schools don't have to make up more than five snow days and they still get to keep state funding"

Seriously? As hard as they have pushed God out of the schools, they are pulling this crap?

Re: Hallelujah! Illinois Schools Bringing God Back; To Avoid Working an Extra Day
"While River Bend Superintendent Chuck Holliday doesn’t expect the district to exceed the five emergency days, if the troublesome weather continues, River Bend must go through a request process with the Illinois State Board of Education before those make-up days can be waived from the end of the school year.

“Should we have to cancel more instructional days this school year, the board of education has the option of rescheduling the days or requesting Act of God Days through the Illinois State Board of Education,” said Holliday in a press release. “Act of God Days, if requested by the local board of education and approved by the Illinois State Board of Education, allow a local school district not to make-up weather days beyond five."
