Atlantis exposed?
Surreal seascape revealed by the storms: Ancient oaks and pines from 5,000-year-old forest rise as Welsh beach is washed away.

Thought to date back to the Bronze Age, the shin-high stumps of the ancient forest became visible for the first time when the peat which once covered them was washed away in torrential rain and waves pounding the shore. Now they stud the beach near the village of Borth, Ceredigion, Mid Wales - an area already rich in archaeology, opposite the alleged site of Wales's own take on the lost city of Atlantis. Archaeologists knew the 5,000-year-old forest existed on the beach at Borth and stumps were sometimes visible at low tide. But the recent storms revealed a whole new section thought to include oak and pine near Ynyslas, further north than the previously seen remains.

Anyone who has so little imagination as to describe a 5,000 year old ancient forest as "a couple stumps" is the stupid one! Anyway, it's not just any ancient forest...

The legend of Cantre'r Gwaelod is comparable to the deluge myth found in nearly every ancient culture, and it has been likened to the story of Atlantis. There are several versions of the myth. The earliest known form of the legend is usually said to appear in the Black Book of Carmarthen (Welsh: Llyfr Du Caerfyrddin'), in which the land is referred to as Maes Gwyddno (English: the Plain of Gwyddno). In this version, the land was lost to floods when a well-maiden named Mererid neglected her duties and allowed the well to overflow.

There is no reliable physical evidence of the substantial community that legend promises lies under the sea, although several reports exist of remains being sighted.

Re: Atlantis exposed?
Sorry bud. Atlantis did exist and there is a great deal of evidence for such an empire existing far away from Europe approximately 12,000 years ago. But even a forest of exposed stumps from our historical era is not the same as remains of a great city from two or three times as far back in history. Suggesting "Atlantis" whenever something moderately old is found just detracts from serious commentary on a subject that many wish to hide and ridicule.
