Were you ever proud of your country?

I was very proud of my country when I was young. It was a peaceful and well-ordered society, one of the wealthiest nations in the world, with a thriving economy and a generous welfare system. People were united and everyone implicitly trusted everyone else.

Then came mass immigration from third-world nations, and all that was once good about my nation was destroyed.

It only took a couple of decades.

Look I am disappointed in people right now.
How can I be proud of my country when other country's are fucking it up for everyone.

yes, most definitely. i would never have thought about giving up citizenship, but with things the way they are now and how they appear to be headed, it's becoming a possibility for me. sadly.

I was and still am in a way. But in the recent years i have a much clearer view of how a few people can keep the magority hostages and at the same time jointly responsible in their crimes.

Depends, I consider my county a country while others will see it as a region.. So yes, I am proud of my country and it's history in that context. But if I expand that and include the others regions as my country then not so much..

And i think you are wrong when you say that "the mass immigration from third-world nations" is the reason of all our problems. It is one of the results of the worlds leaders' policies including the ones of our/your countries.

I wouldn't say the mass immigration is the reason for the destruction, it's just the final bullet our rulers administered to our foreheads.

Mass immigration destroyed all hope for the future.

Because every other disaster can be mitigated with hard work, but mass immigration can never be undone (except by a bloody process of horrible ethnic cleansing that would leave the survivors psychologically scarred for life, which in itself means the former peaceful society will not return anytime soon, if ever).

I agree, the problem is in mass. I just say that for most of these people immigration wasnt a choise but a necessity.
As for us, an economic decline works well in making many of them go back to their countries, we saw this happening in Creece with the crisis during the last 5 years, but also many of our own young educated people have left (and still leaving) to migrate abroad.
Sure this is not a solution but a fact.

I still think that our own policies are to blame more than anything else.

Tell you the truth, I never even considered it. Not one time.
I have been proud of some of the American people but not the country really. I don't think along those lines. I would stand up for the American people who make up the country but that is being proud of the country. I have been ashamed of some of the American people, too. I have been disappointed in the people who are in the government now and in the pass, they have done some horrible things over the years.

America NEVER was what you thought it was.

NO, NO and NO. I am 75. I used to panhadle 25 cents from the bars, go to movies for 20 cents and popcorn for 5 cents. How the hell can I be proud of any country that kills most of the original population to gain wealth and then continues this process yet today?
