All who earn a place in the lake of fire will be totally consumed and only the torment of their smoke and ashes remain , they are blotted out completely , even from our memories ,like they never existed and that includes all spiritual beings . Death of the flesh is the first death and death of the spirit is the second death and only happens at the end of the millenium at the great white throne judgement. |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 38452591 United States 02/22/2014 06:10 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | i think that the evidence is there to support this, although I can't say I 100 percent believe it. I think for someone to claim you aren't a Christian because of it, is complete ridiculousness. The Bible is clear about what the conditions are for eternal life, and belief in an everlasting torment for unbelievers is not one of those conditions. I know even discussing this issue with others really leads to conflict. This is because they are so conditioned into the eternal torment doctrine, and many of them mistakenly assume you mean there is no hell without investigating it further or listening to what you are even saying. They often also may associate this belief as part of what they consider a cult, and they are trying to protect themselves from being deceived. Any "Christian" denomination that doesn't claim Jesus to be God, is in fact preaching a different Gospel. Unfortunately, those who believe this are also the ones who most often believe in death vs eternal torment. In fact you'd be hard pressed to find a church that wasn't considered a cult that teaches what you are saying. I don't know of any. Although the cult's version of it isn't 100 percent exactly in line with what you are saying. The two are intertwined in many people's mind and so the ability for honest/open discussion about it is met with hostility and disdain. Although the Bible mentions hell often, nothing says it is eternal torment. The only thing I could even consider as a suggestion or hint to eternal torture is in the parable of Lazarus and those who take the mark of the Beast in Revelation, although the only thing "eternal" in either of those is the smoke. Everywhere else in the bible the words death and destruction are used. The only certainty of eternal torment comes from tradition, but the real question is where does that tradition come from? I am curious if you have looked into this at all? The doctrine of eternal torture may be as you say, turning people away from Christ, although I think more often it is used by His enemies as an excuse and a way to spew their hatred of Him. They hate God and they will use any excuse as to why. If the church had no doctrine of eternal torment, they would be offended by something else. But it all boils down to, they hate God and are unwilling to submit to His authority in any way. If they were willing, the issue of eternal torment would be a non issue for them. Don't worry though, Jesus will lose absolutely NO ONE who the Father has given Him. Faith and grace come from God. Not us. (Eph 2:8). The doctrine of eternal torment is not going to stop those God has given the gift of Faith to. It can't. If by pointing out your belief about eternal torment to people helps them to realize who God really is, great. But fighting the organized church on this is a losing battle, because all of them come out of seminaries that teach them tradition HAS to be considered to interpret the scripture correctly. Aside from that tradition, I think there is ample evidence in scripture for anyone who looks at it honestly to arrive at the same conclusion as you do. Even at the judgement, the punishment is called the second "death", although some will just claim this means "separation from God". I don't know if your conclusion is true although it is very plausible, but it is at least proof that you are searching the scriptures and willing to meditate on them. At least, if we are here, when the time comes for the AntiChrist to take over all the religions, you will be on solid ground without blindly following. However, for others when he gets up and starts spewing how Hell doesn't exist, it may be what warns them to beware. It is hard to say, but God will use it all for the good of those He has given to Jesus. |

furPete'sSake User ID: 54564434 United States 02/22/2014 07:52 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Well you might investigate the meaning of "death" in the scriptures, it doesn't necessarily mean annihilation, more like a separation, in the meaning of alienation from God. To be separated from God for all eternity is worse than ceasing to be -- I think you might agree. We "die" to sins, the prodigal son was "dead", but was only alienated from his father. I didn't really like the loud shouting and condemning people to hell. So I went up to them and questioned them, got his email, And then sent him this in response.. You are in the wrong... Jesus is coming to judge the Lukewarm. Peter said that those who believe in Jesus are those who keep His commandments. Jesus said the way was straight and narrow and that few find it. The churches are brainwashing the sheep. Jesus warned about the wolves in sheeps clothing and He was talking about preachers.. Most Christians are on the broadway and they are not going to make it. When they see Jesus soon raise up the street urchins and the homeless to do His miracles and spread the true Gospel, Christians are going to get mad at Jesus and take the mark of the beast out of spite. Preachers will be telling their congregations to go ahead and take it. When you see miracles happen in the church run as fast as you can as there is going to be a counterfeit revival that will fool great numbers who believe they are saved. When you see the poor performing miracles and telling people to repent, then you are seeing real miracles from Jesus. Get out of the churches now!!!! Jude 1 7 Even as Sodom and Gomorrha, and the cities about them in like manner, giving themselves over to fornication, and going after strange flesh, are set forth for an example, suffering the vengeance of eternal fire. 8 Likewise also these filthy dreamers defile the flesh, despise dominion, and speak evil of dignities. 9 Yet Michael the archangel, when contending with the devil he disputed about the body of Moses, durst not bring against him a railing accusation, but said, The Lord rebuke thee. 10 But these speak evil of those things which they know not: but what they know naturally, as brute beasts, in those things they corrupt themselves. 11 Woe unto them! for they have gone in the way of Cain, and ran greedily after the error of Balaam for reward, and perished in the gainsaying of Core. 12 These are spots in your feasts of charity, when they feast with you, feeding themselves without fear: clouds they are without water, carried about of winds; trees whose fruit withereth, without fruit, twice dead, plucked up by the roots; 13 Raging waves of the sea, foaming out their own shame; wandering stars, to whom is reserved the blackness of darkness for ever.
