Polio Vaccine Administered, Infant Dies Within Minutes

Feb' 24, 2014, JAIPUR: A nine-month-old infant died within minutes of swallowing polio drops in Bhilwara district on Sunday triggering panic among the villagers. An anganwadi worker administered polio drops to several children in Itunda village in Jahajpura tehsil under the national immunization day programme when the newborn, Rohit Raigar, who swallowed polio drops, died within minutes.

While health department officials denied the polio drops caused his death, the death triggered panic in the village forcing health officials to stop the immunization programme. Top officials from Jaipur rushed to Itunda to investigate further.....
